I'm in search of a delicious store bought spaghetti sauce. I want a sauce that has REAL ingredients. I used to buy Prego, but their list of ingredients is very long and many of them have chemical names. I have been buying the Safeway brand, which lists less than a dozen ingredients, but it kinda seems watered down. The cost is a factor too, but since our family eats pasta less than five times a month, I would be ok with spending a little more than usual ($2/jar). Recommend away and thanks in advance

Rao is the best store bought brand I've tried. It's $7-$9/jar, depending on where you buy it. It's very, very easy to make great spaghetti sauce though, and pretty cheap this time of the year when tomatoes are in-season. We make batches and freeze them; tastier than store-bought and almost as convenient.

Classico...every flavor is good. This one is my favorite at the moment. It's less than $3 a jar. We usually use 1.5-2 jars per meal.

Dh is anti-sauce because he thinks it's easy to make, but I always have a jar or two of Classico in the cupboards in case we need it in a pinch

I prefer to make my own sauce, but I keep a few jars of the one @Mrs. Lemon-Lime pictured to use in a hurry.

I like Classico too! I buy it at Costco and they are slightly bigger jars and sell in packs of 3. Forget the price tho!

I love Newman's Own Sockarooni, but DH hates it. It has spice, and peppers, and mushrooms and is delish. But, we had been using Classico tomato and basil because it doesn't have added sugar

I'm not picky because I don't like red sauce in general, so we just buy whatever's on sale... but I have to admit, Rao's is pretty tasty. You can sometimes find it on sale-- once we saw it at Whole Foods for $4 a jar and we stocked up!

Our absolute favorite is he White Linen brand sauce at Costco. It's got like 4 ingredients and it is delicious! We use it for everything. But, if we did regular grocery store we'd probably buy Newmans.

We like bertolli tomato and basil sauce. The ingredients list is fairly small but it was rated best tasting by America's test kitchen . There is also an organic version of the sauce.

Trader Joe's Puttanesca is totally clean - no added sugar (I am pretty sure on that) and nothing artificial. It's yummy and not too expensive if you have a TJ's nearby.

The Trader Joes vodka sauce is incredible!!! looove it. so good.
DH usually doesn't like when I buy tomato sauce either cause he likes ot make it, but I usually keep a few jars on hand because it's very convenient.

Rao's is good, but it's pricey and quite high in fat. So, our staple is Victoria. It's a little pricey but often goes on sale so we just stock up then.

Not exactly what you're asking, but I have had AMAZING luck with browning meat, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and garlic, and then freezing that mixture in 2 cup portions. When I want to eat it, I defrost it in a microwave, throw it and a jar or two of crushed tomatoes in a pot, add some spices, and let cook for an hour or two. A bit more work than just opening a jar, but still pretty easy - and you feel like such an awesome cook for very little effort.

I don't buy it any more, I only make it because this recipe really doesn't take much longer than heating up a jar (especially if I have to prep other things, or I make a bunch ahead of time and freeze), is relatively cheap, and I know exactly what is in it, plus it's soooooooooooo good!

I like Barilla for jarred sauce but I have a super easy red sauce from Rachel Ray that is YUMMY
brown Italian sausage (about a pound or pound and half)
Add 3-4 cloves minced garlic
Add 1/2 cup chicken broth and let bubble
Add 28 oz can crushed tomatoes and bring to boil then let simmer
Add salt and pepper
Add 1/4 cup heavy cream if you want a super yummy blush sauce. Add fresh basil
I also like to have it with peas
