@catlady: The problem is that we are doing construction in our apartment to build a third bedroom during my 4yo's spring break. So we basically need to leave to avoid going crazy!
I booked a stay at the Omni Bedford Springs in PA. We've had two great family vacations at the Omni Mount Washington and are hoping this will be similar even though it won't get me the change of weather I was hoping for.

@catlady: two years ago we rented a great little house on Ossippee Lake through VRBO, it was super fun being on the lake, and the house had a dock so we rented a pontoon boat for a couple days. We were also only about 25 minutes from Storyland, so that was easy!
Also a great hotel on Lake Winnie in Meredith is Church Landing, there's a ton to do up there and it's so pretty on the lake, and that hotel is gorgeous if you're looking more for something like that!
We're taking our 2.5 and 5.5 year olds to Portugal this summer (only 5.5 hr flight, and got a great deal on flights, cheaper than going to FL) so i'll let you know if you're looking for an international excursion

I don't know if you count 6 as 'young kid' but our trip to the Big Island (everywhere!!) was amazing!!!! I would think 6 and up would love it. Trying to find time to do a guest blog about it.
