What are they doing?
LO1 is playing awesome with her toys.
LO2 is unrolling TP, spreading diaper cream all over, standing on a table, eating something gross.

D is reading. M is probably getting into something he shouldn't.

DD1 is playing by herself.
DD2 is eating dog food. -
Watching TV, eating, or playing with playdoh. Other than that there isn't a quiet moment to be had.

She's either lining up her little people or unrolling the toilet paper into the toilet. Or squeezing out a whole tube of diaper rash cream.

DD is never quiet. She never stops talking. I'd be concerned for her safety.
DS was quiet for a minute yesterday morning and had emptied a box of wipes and pulled all of the toilet paper off the roll in the bathroom.

T is reading or playing quietly with a toy.
R has found something to eat that he shouldn't eat, or his brothers juice cup, or is climbing the stairs

If DD1 is quiet then something is up. DD2 is usually quiet so that's no too concerning.

She has found an electrical cord and is wondering how long she can touch it and get away with it. Or she's found random fuzz on the floor and is carefully trying to get it into her mouth.

He is doing something awful like colouring on the wall or scaling a bookcase or flooding the bathroom. He's great at independent play but will ALWAYS be talking away to himself unless he's doing something bad!

LO1 is looking at a book or building something with Legos.
LO2 is playing alone.Luckily, neither of them usually try to unroll all the toilet paper or get into things they aren't supposed to.

She is either playing with her dolls, coloring on something she shouldn't be, or pooping somewhere (in her diaper).

often when he is playing quietly by himself, it turns out he has a poo in his diaper.

LO1 is reading books or playing with Little People/playmobil figures. She is great at independent play!
LO2 is into something she shouldn't be - whether that's the printer, my purse, the iPad, the pantry, or the rubbish bin - or she's standing on the table thinking she's being sneaky!

Playing by himself. But he is rarely completely quiet because he is very interactive while he plays

N is playing alone or climbing on something he shouldn't.
E is climbing on something high or expensive. -
She's pooping.
Seriously she never plays alone and, if she's up to something, she wants you to see. She ran off with a pen the other day and when I didn't chase her she came back into the room and said "Mummy, I drawing on wall" and ran off again

@mrbee: ds1 was doing this last week w cupcakes leftover from dh's bday. Hiding behind the island w frosting all over his face!
