For Christmas everyone thought it would be great to get LO books with the buttons that you're suppose to press at a certain time in the story. ...if I have hear or read one more of those stupid things I'm gonna lose it! lol

This very loud snail that plays music at one volume: ear splitting. And makes these weird noises that I think are supposed to be race car like. Oh it is the worst.

H started playing with C's old Mozart Music Cube... drives me nuts because there isn't a volume control, and no visible speaker for me to slap some packing tape over it.

@loveisstrange: Yes, this for us too. Elsa does not have an "off" switch or a volume control. Seriously, WTF Disney.

The Little People bus. It really needs volume control.

A talking puppy toy that has its body parts labeled and sings songs when you squeeze it. I turn it off all the time and if you breathe too hard near it it comes to life anyway and starts singing

Doc McStuffins doll and lamb - they have no volume control and it's super loud! We turned off the sound as soon as she got it. Which annoyed FIL who thinks that all kids toys need to move or make noise to be fun.

A frozen microphone that talks and sings Let it Go....

@LuLu Mom: My niece has that - and after visiting them over Christmas, my LO who has had no exposure to Frozen up till now was singing Let it go...

A vtech tea set. She knows to ask before turning it on....but it's awful. Future SIL bought it and it's definitely already the butt of so many family jokes

MyPad. It annoying as anything, and it's worse because I come from a family of techies and I'm trying to insulate DS from it so he grows up knowing how to do other things besides push buttons. Seriously. Growing up, I was the only person in the family that could hammer a nail into a wall.

@LuLu Mom: OMG! That thing is so annoying. I could curse my grandma.

@Smurfette: It came from my cousin, it is currently "hiding" under her bed. Yes mom of the year...I hid it under there. She hasn't asked for it though

He has a musical guitar. It has many buttons but the ones he knows best are the one that plays music and never stops and the up volume button.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@LuLu Mom: Oh, I put ours up on a higher shelf in the playroom so she can't find it. She doesn't ask for any toys, so I don't think she even notices.

@autumnlove: yes, my LOs most annoying toy is her Elsa snow globe wand that sings the same thing over and over. Also, she left it in the car and it froze, broke, and now also leaks glitter all over (post-flood).
This vacuum is a close second though! It says something like, "Vroom, vroom, me want to vacuum with you." (Cookie Monster) "Cleaning crew, coming through" (Elmo) Over and over.

@78h2o: OH man we have this wand too, they could have done more than 15 seconds of the melody....seriously. Luckily LO isn't that into it!

@Mrs. Sunshine: Ugh, yes, and it's even my fault! I got L two of those Minnie books. One is little phrases, and the other has like 6 songs with their own page. I can't wait until the batteries die...
persimmon / 1396 posts
@LuLu Mom: YES! This is the most annoying toy ever. She also has the doll that sings Let it Go and likes to play them at the same time.

Vtech nursery rhyme singing book thing. Omg. But, it does get her attention and distract her from digging through the recycling bins, chasing the dogs, etc...

@swurlygurl: the songs like do you know the cupcake girl? Yeah that book is in my car and Chloe loves it. Hate hate hate.

@.twist.: My sister got E a guitar that plays "rock nursery rhymes". He just sits and punches the same button over, and over, and over, and over....
I threatened my sister with a drum kit for her 3 year old son.

@78h2o: @LuLu Mom: @babynumber1: Hah, I almost feel guilty that we got that for our niece for Christmas. To be fair, it was totally payback for this really annoying toy that they got DS for his birthday. They have since threatened a drum set. We're fun like that.

V-tech walker. "Welcome to our learning farm, we have lots to show you." AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!

@SleepyMonkey: I'm going with the snail toy too. Not sure if it's the same as yours but if it is, I can commiserate!
LO's snail toy has a mirror and rolls across the floor. It plays music and lights up. Problem is that anytime you even step into the room that dang thing starts loudly singing and lighting up and just won't stop! There were a few nights I forgot to turn it off and it scared me in the dark. I recently put it away for baby #2 so at least I get a temporary break.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@MapleMoose: haha! is it this one?
my dad bought it for her and i think he set out with the goal to pick the loudest, most obnoxious toy that doesn't make any sense. it plays "jazz" music and you can rev it up so it rolls across the floor, and then it makes braking noises and rumbles in place. like....who was on that creative/marketing team???
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Danizaur: hahaha my LO has the same puppy. He was playing with it in the car the other day and I almost lost my mind. One of the songs is especially annoying!!
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@SleepyMonkey: haha no, it's not that one but I'm starting to think the one my LO has is more tolerable!

@Leah: our LO got that for Christmas and dh & I are constantly humming that tune. But LO loves it!

@Leah: LO got that for Christmas last year and he is still obsessed with it! Awww yeah it's annoying but he loves it so much!
clementine / 927 posts
@jhd: lol. My husband hums it too, even though it probably annoys him more than it does me.

For all those who hate the toys without volume control, try putting clear packaging tape over the speakers - it cuts the sound significantly and isn't super noticeable so the kids don't fuss with it too much. We've done that for so many toys and it is brilliant!
My least favourite toy is this kitty cat piano, and go figure, both LOs love it
