My water had to be broken & I was disappointed but they didn't tell me that's what they were doing down there so I definitely still thought I peed myself & was super embarrassed because the doctor was looking! lol but then I realized what happened....

It started a painfully slow trickle at home, then fully broke in triage as the nurse was checking me.

my water broke as a high leak- it kept trickling out very slowly , at random times, and only a little at a time. i kept thinking i was just peeing a bit.

My water broke on it's own, but it was after I was already checked into the hospital because my contractions were coming so close/regularly/etc.

I think I was about 5-6 cm dilated and I asked my midwife if she thought they should break my water or just wait, and she said that if it was her, she'd wait a bit. It ended up breaking on it's own not long after while I was trying to go to the bathroom (perfect timing for that mess)!

My water broke unexpectedly at 34 weeks. I had just gotten out of the shower and BOOM. No question.

Both of mine broke naturally. With DS it broke the day before and I had to be induced. With DD it broke as I arrived at the hospital. Like, as soon as I stood up to get out of my seat of the car. I expect that whenever we have our third it'll be the same - but now I've probably jinxed it

D2: It broke on its own when I slept. I woke to a sudden gusssshhhhhhhh. It felt like a water balloon had burst inside of me.

I got out of the birth tub when my midwife arrived to our house and wanted to be checked. Just as she was about to check I felt something and realized it was my water breaking.

@grizz: Wow! I've heard that the pressure for babies born en caul is super intense.

I was laying on the couch while DH was fixing the frame around our new door. I got up to check the laundry in the dryer and when walking back to our room to use the bathroom, huge gush of water. I yelled honey, either my water just broke or I peed a lot all over myself. I got to the hospital an hour later and still wasn't having contractions.

Mine broke during my induction when I stood up off the table. It just burst everywhere. So gross.

I had to have my water broken with both pregnancies right before pushing.

I was going upstairs to go to bed when I felt the first gush. I smelled my undies (gross, i know) and they smelled sweet but no more fluid came, so I went to sleep. I got up to pee around 4am and there was another huge gush, so I called and they told me to come in. I sprung a leak at the top and the midwives broke it the rest of the way.

My water broke at 35w4d unexpectedly. I woke up around 5 AM to a short gush, and wasn't sure if I peed myself. It happened several more times, but I was in denial, I guess because it was so early to be going in to labor, and I didn't have any contractions. I kept having little gushes throughout the day, and it wasn't until my normal appointment that afternoon that I told my doctor, she tested me, and it was determined that it was my waters. I still wasn't contracting or dilated, but once I was admitted and given the cervadil, things got moving pretty fast.
This time I'm going to start sleeping with a water resistant pad under the sheets starting around 33 weeks.

My water broke unexpectedly at 4am. I woke with a sudden urge to go to the bathroom, which is not a surprise given my hugely pregnant state, but the pee never stopped. I had a continuous light/medium flow for the next 4-5 hours!

I was sitting on the toilet and I felt like it sounded like I was peeing but it didn't feel like it. It was just a little bit. So I leaned over to turn the light on so I could inspect ( obviously we must inspect all bodily fluids haha. ) and more poured out. It just trickled out slowly for the next 2 hours. At the hospital when I was giving a urine sample it basically exploded hahah. So lovely.

as i was sitting down to a dinner party (almost on their all white upholstered chairs). As I was sitting I felt the pop, and I quickly excused myself and shimmied over to the restroom. Where it gushed and I got stuck in there because every time I stood up another gush happened. I just kept waiting for someone to come check on me so I didn't make a scene or a mess. It was a memorable moment

I wish I would get a fun story!

Mine broke in the hospital after cervidil induction (on its own though). It wasn't a gush or anything and we had to ask the nurses to check to see if it really had broken.
