My water broke on it's own after 45ish hours of labor. LO's head was already very low almost nothing came out and labor just stopped progressing. After a few hours The midwife had to (I don't know the technical term) use a stick-like device to push LO back in and let the fluid out.

With D, I got up in the middle of the night to pee, but ended up with a gush of water. I was only 32 weeks along.

Mine broke at the hospital - I hadn't been fully admitted, they were thinking about sending me home but waiting to see if my contractions picked up - then pop, gush - guess we're staying.

I actually had two bags of water, one that broke on its own and the other had to be broken.

My water "broke" as a trickle over 24 hours, labor never commenced, and I was induced with pitocin. My full bag of waters finally broke when I was pushing!

I just love all these stories!!

It cracks me up how many people (myself included) didn't know whether they were just peeing themselves a little. Pre-pregnant us would have thought we were all crazy!

I got up to go to the bathroom around 12:30am the day before my due date and noticed my underwear and shorts were soaked through. I didn't notice any pop or gushing, and it wasn't even trickling at that point so I really wasn't sure - I was actually about to go back to bed (lying on a towel, ha) but then I realized I should go downstairs and at least tell DH and call the doctor... After I got off the phone with her, I noticed a steady stream leaking out so I figured this was really it! I was group B positive so they had me come to the hospital to be checked out right away, even though I was not yet having contractions. They put me on pitocin shortly thereafter.

I was convinced that my water wouldn't break on its own and that I'd be really confused trying to figure out if I was in true labor - I was glad to have a clear sign!
