@travellingbee: Is it by chance Baylor? I know their rates are much lower, but I've heard that Dr. Gibbons is actually really good. I remember hearing there were some weird quirks to their program that led to fewer cycles and lower rates, but I can't remember what they were. I know they are a teaching facility. If it's them, it might be worth an appointment just to see what he says (maybe even ask about the rate).

@Hoots: no, it's fertility specialists of Houston. Dr. Dunn etc. but I found another that might work. Center of reproductive medicine and their SART rates are in the 40s. Much better.

@travellingbee: That's a much better rate! I didn't realize that there was more than one center here with lower rates. I'm glad you found one that you feel better about!

@travellingbee: Sorry to budge in but I just wanted to say that it may be worth at least having a discussion with the first place you looked up. Sometimes really low scores are because they take "challenging" cases or older couples, etc

@Hoots: I don't know that they are lower cost in general but they participate in this program with my husband's insurance, so for us, they may be a good option.

@Crystal: So sorry for my late reply! I've been feeling alright...I'm still super anxious for our first U/S on Thursday. I'll be exactly 7 weeks! The breast pain has subsided, but I'm still super tired all the time and nausea has started to creep in, but very minor for now. The worst thing about the last couple days is that I have a sore throat/cold and I can't shake it! UGH!

I seriously am going to cry. I've had an RE apt scheduled for over a month for April 30th. The RE was coming up from Minneapolis to where I live - 2 hours away. Just got a call from the clinic in Minneapolis and they are closing! So, now there will be no appointment happening!

The nurse from the RE clinic was really nice and is going email me some information about other clinics in the area. I have no idea what I'm going to do now...looks like I'll be traveling. ugh. At least I'm basically done with tax season.

    @NorthStar: Ugh! So disappointing!

I will probably O tomorrow. This is the first cycle where we know what the problem is (darn morphology!). I know this cycle is unlikely, but hoping for a Christmas miracle.

How do you guys decide re clinics? I really hope we don't have to do ivf and honestly, I don't know if we can afford it. I wish there was a place to see personal reviews..I'm trying to decide between two of them.

@NorthStar: oh no! Do you have any other clinics in your area?

@AmeliaBedilia: FX for a Christmas miracle.

Dr gave me a prescription for clomid yesterday and metformin. He wants me to start taking the metformin now and the clomid on CD5 of my next cycle. No monitoring, and he doesn't want to see me until CD30-33 of my clomid cycle. I also have to go for a blood test to check progesterone on CD21.

I'm hoping this works, but not feeling too confident.

@NorthStar: I'm so sorry, all the waiting and the run arounds are the absolute worst as far as REs, I received a list from my husbands urologist and and googled their practice. I didn't find too much but I pickrd mine based on my overall vibe.

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm praying for a Christmas miracle for you too

@Crystal: I'm sorry I don't remember your whole story, is there a reason you're not being monitored with meds?

@NorthStar: That is so frustrating! I'm so sorry!

Last tablet of Femara tomorrow.. then the wait is on to see if I actually ovulate on it. Sigh.

  14. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@MrsKRB: not really... Quick back story: I was going to see an re, but he was really pushing us to go straight to ivf, and recommended I see my OBGYN if I wanted to try clomid. Now I'm trying clomid for the first time, but my OBGYN doesn't do monitoring.

  15. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@NorthStar: I'm sure you've thought of this, but have you googled reviews?

I went to the one place affiliated with my insurance. If we do have to do IVF, I'll definitely shop around.

  16. Miss Sarah

    persimmon / 1259 posts

@Crystal: My OB didn't do monitoring for the Clomid cycles either, even with IUI. Fingers crossed it works find for you, but it was frustrating to just go through the cycle blindly. Good luck!

  17. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@Crystal: that's so strange that the RE was pushing for IVF right away! I really hope Clomid works for you, I hear a lot of success stories!

  18. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

I did some searching last night, so I think that I have it narrowed down. It's just such a big decision to make.

@Crystal: No, no clinics at all in my area. The appointment I had was for an RE that was working with my OBGYN clinic and coming up once a month. But, that isn't happening anymore. So, looks like I'll be traveling down there, but hopeful that I can do most of the monitoring/testing up here and procedures down in the Twin Cities (2 hours away).

@crystal: I will be starting unmonitored clomid next cycle with my obgyn, if this cycle doesn't work out. I made a separate thread about it and got lots of great feedback. Here's the link in case you didn't see it:http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/pcos-now-diagnosed-treatment-questions

Has anyone heard of the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine? Looks like a Minneapolis clinic is coming in July. Still two hours away, but looks like they are world renowned (or so they say..)

  21. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@MrsKRB: His thought was that because I am ovulating on my own, DH's sperm analysis have been great, and we don't have any outlying problems (PCOS, etc) then an IUI won't do anything TI isn't doing. So he feels that IVF would be the most successful. My OBGYN thinks that because everything else does look good, clomid might give us a small boost that will help us be successful. I am just not ready to go to IVF until I try clomid or an IUI (not to mention that I can't really afford IVF right now...)

@sarahnicole218: I'm surprised they didn't even do it with the IUI! I am a little nervous to go through blindly, especially with the risk of cysts developing... I really hope this works for us. So glad to hear you are doing well! How was the ultrasound?

@NorthStar: Ouch, that's far, you poor thing. Are they still willing to work with you on monitoring done close to home? So frustrating about the clinic.

@DesertDreams88: When does your next cycle start? I hadn't seen that, thanks for the link!

  22. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@Crystal: yeah, I think so, as long as the reproductive clinic agrees. I just need to decide which clinic to make the apt at. I'm going decide over the weekend.

I'm in completely the same boat as you, from the sounds of it. Did basically unmonitored letrozole under my obgyn and unexplained fertility..she told me that IUI's won't do anything different than TI, but I'd prefer to try that next.

Do they at least test your progesterone levels on (or around) day 21 to ensure that you ovulated and that your hormone is high enough? That's really the only thing my OBGYN did..I also started acupuncture in November and if anything, that has helped me to relax.

  23. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@NorthStar: I started acupuncture in January, and just found an acupuncturist that specializes in fertility that I will start seeing at the end of the month. I really like it so far!

It does sound like we are in the same boat. Good to have someone with me, but sad we have to be here! I feel the same, I want to at least try clomid cycles, then go to IUI with femara/clomid before we go any further.

OBGYN has ordered blood test for CD21 of my clomid cycle to check P.

How did your unmonitored cycle go?

  24. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@Crystal: yeah, it's a sucky place to be. glad they are testing your progesterone, though. the acupuncture actually started making that increase quite a bit (or so I think)..I had maybe a 12 prior to starting it and my cycle in February, it was up to 40. They like to see a 20, if that gives you an idea..

The cycle is going ok. I did take letrozole this cycle because I figured "why not"..i ovulated later than normal, but we seemed to have good timing BD. I'm 8DPO, so I'm just waiting. I probably won't test unless I don't get my period by next Wednesday or Thursday. I ovulated a few days later than normal, so I'm hoping that will push back my POAS date. I hate seeing those negative tests.

On Monday, I did get a bloody nose for the first time ever since I was pregnant with DD. That was my worst symptom when pregnant with her, so of course, both me and my husband thought ..oh my gosh, maybe I'm pregnant. but, we'll see. No symptoms at all, but I also realize that some women have no symptoms.

@NorthStar: hi, new to the thread but I live here in Colorado and have heard of the renowned CRC but my ob just recommended Rocky Mountain Infertility Clinic because it is smaller and must less money for IVF.

  28. BrianaK

    grape / 89 posts

@Crystal: totally in the same boat! Trying for one year and there's absolutely no reason my ob can spot that is causing infertility. On my second cycle of Clomid and hoping otherwise he recommends IVF which scares me but you have a good chance of a baby!

  29. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@BrianaK: IVF does have a great chance of baby! I just don't know if we'd ever do it.

  31. DesertDreams88

Anyone in here know if taking oral progesterone will keep up your BBTs significantly? I started them on 5DPO, and my temps were already up quite high by then. My post-O temps are much higher than normal, even a bit higher/more consistent than my BFP cycle in September....

  32. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@BrianaK: I completely agree. I just don't think it's in the cards for us... That's really hard for me to take. I hope I don't have to end up at that crossroads.

@DesertDreams88: no first hand knowledge, but from what Ive read on the boards, I beleive P can mimic pregnancy symptoms and keep temps up. I don't know if how it's taken (suppository or orally) makes a difference. FX this is it for you!

Have you told your boss(es) what if going on and if so, how did that go? If I start traveling a few hours to see an RE, I don't see how I can avoid not telling them. Just not looking forward to it..

I'm on day 28 now and temps are up, but had a huge drop on Saturday. How the heck do you link your chart? I cannot figure that out..

  34. YogiRunner

    clementine / 849 posts

@northstar I just told my boss last week. With all the doctors appointments, I didn't want her to worry or think I was interviewing elsewhere. She actually just assumed that we were already pregnant! But she was very supportive.

I didn't want anyone at work to know, especially my boss who controls promotion decisions, but we're just at that point where it's obvious something is going on.

Speaking of doc appointments, when you're on a medicated monitored cycle, how often do you usually need to go in for ultrasounds? Just want to be prepared and clear my schedule as needed... Starting my first medicated monitored IUI cycle soon. I don't usually O till at least CD17 and they're starting monitoring at CD10...

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@NorthStar: I'm struggling with this as well. I've already had to leave work early a couple times, and I haven't even started treatment yet! I would really rather not tell anyone, I might just say I'm having some medical issues.

  36. ballerinabee

@NorthStar: I did because I may need to go part time for a month (then back to full time) to force open enrollment for my insurance. Plus I've had a lot of dr appts and people keep asking, so I told them. I didn't want to, but I got tired of people looking at my belly and then at me as if to try to get me to say I was pregnant. A couple of people came right out and asked (a couple have asked more than once).

As for how to share your chart from FF, on your chart page, scroll down to just above your "cycles history" box. There should be a series of grey buttons above it, and the one directly above the "cycles history" box should be "Share". Click that, then copy the link from one of the options. I just remove the coding pieces from before and after the http part, but here's how it appears on the screen under Simple Link on the Share page: "My Ovulation Chart " so, I paste just this part: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3568c0

I don't know how others do it, but that's how I do.

eta: the My Ovulation Chart link is the piece I tried to paste with the coding strings. I had hoped that putting it in "" would make the code not work, but obviously that didn't help. Ha.

@ballerinabee: Thanks! I'm going to see how this week goes and then if AF shows, tell my boss and my performance coach (since I work with her a lot). I can't believe that they flat out asked you if you were pregnant?! wow..

Got an RE apt scheduled! May 19th, so at least it's only 3 weeks later than my previous one. Now, need to coordinate someone watching DD the night before, so that we can be in Mpls bright and early at 8am for our dr appt.

@ballerinabee: UGH I can't believe people are flat out asking! I find that so rude and inappropriate... They probably have no idea how awkward and stinging it is, but still. I'm sorry.

I did blurt to my "work bestie" bc I trust her to keep mum and she was concerned w/all the doc appointments. But no one knows details nor should they.

  40. Crystal

    grapefruit / 4028 posts

@NorthStar: I sat down with my boss and expressed this was a very sensitive matter and that I was hoping for the upmost confidentiality. I didn't go into too much detail, but did explain in basic terms what I was going through.

If you don't want to get specific, you can always say you have an ongoing medical issue you are taking care of.

I found it was better to explain I was battling infertility (as opposed to an unnamed health thread) so she understood when I have any last minute appointments. She was very understanding. I don't get into the specifics of my situation and treatment, though.

My current issue is that I am very new to this job (been here about a month), and have already have a few appts, with more on the horizon. She has been good about it thus far, but I need to talk to her about my weekly acupuncture appts that will require I leave early one day a week. FX she remains understanding.

@ballerinabee: Ugh, I hate that. People are so rude sometimes.
