@jaguar: Good news! Hoping you get that fresh cycle after all!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Wow, we never taken anything for lining with FET's here. Hopefully your body will know what to do anyway! xx
@Mrs.Pinecone316: I have no idea what's going on! My FS emailed me over the weekend and said if the progesterone is <5 she'll definitely let me transfer... it'll just depend what happens.
Another scan in a couple of hours. Eeeeep. So nervous.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: Thanks for chiming in! I just took my next normal dose. I'll know in a few days if this timing is going to work...otherwise, I just wait another week. How are your stims coming?
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Thank you! I'm hoping everything will be *just right* this cycle.
@jaguar: Here's hoping! FX for your scan this morning!!!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
My scan today showed 14 follies over 14mm. I know this could go any way right now, but I'm so hopeful for a good result egg-wise this time. Getting a lot more uncomfortable than last time, these ovaries are actually DOING something. E2 has shot up from 686 on Friday to 8000 today!!
Bad news is, progesterone has shot back up to 5.3 so we are definitely freezing everything. So disappointed. No transfer for me this year now.
We trigger tomorrow night & have EPU booked for Thursday.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@jaguar: wow, 8000! I don't know if the units are difference in Australia but that's pretty high if it's the same unit of measure! Did they mention anything about OHSS? Sorry about the progesterone at least it sounds like you'll have lots of eggs to work with. Good luck Thursday!
ETA: never mind! I googled it and it looks like the AUS measurement is about 4.5x the U.S. measurement, so that's a good level! The site I found also said about 800-1000 per mature egg in AUS measurements, so that's 8-10 mature eggs already and you have 2 more days! I'm hopeful for you!

@jaguar: Wow lady that is impressive!!! Sounds like you have some awesome follies! I'm so sorry you have to do a freeze all, but so happy to hear that you have an awesome batch of eggs there!

Hi - just catching up with everyone after a few days away.
@jaguar: So glad to hear that your numbers are looking good! Definitely a bummer about having to wait for the FET next year, but if it results in a good outcome it is definitely worth it!
@FliegepilzHut: EWCM is great news! I always feel better when I see it because I know the estrogen is doing the trick! I'm sure your missed dose won't be a big deal. Your lining check is the end of the week, right?! Yay!!
@mama2em: I'm really sorry things aren't going as you hoped. And news from your blood work? Hopefully things will ramp up over the next few days for you!! Hugs!!
@momazon: How are you doing? Hope all is well!!
AFM: Started PIO last night. Last FET I ended up developing an allergy to the oil (I guess) and had a really itchy backside at the injection sites. I'm hoping that this time that doesn't happen again. Also LO just came down with a cold and I'm really hoping I don't get it!! I was sick during my last transfer, too. Drinking tons of liquids/tea and hoping to get a bit more sleep tonight. We were up almost all night last night . Oh, and we fly out on Thursday! Scheduled for a 12:30 appointment on Friday for the FET!!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@GreenThumb: I'll have my monitoring appointment a few hours before your transfer. ...but probably won't get the green light until later in the day. FX hard that you don't get sick! Have you ever used black elderberry syrup or lozenges for colds? I don't know how or why (and probably won't use while pregnant), but they do seem to help! Sending lots of. ! I'm very excited for you!
pear / 1986 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Thanks for the elderberry suggestion! I actually made elderflower syrup this past summer, so maybe I'll crack open a bottle and add some to my tea. Can't wait to hear your update on Friday! Thanks so much for the support, too !
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@GreenThumb: Of course. Thank you, too! I'll be thinking of you on Friday!

hi ladies! sorry i haven't been on for the past couple of days. i hope you've all been well.
@jaguar: what great news regarding your follicle count! i hope they're able to retrieve a lot and i'll be crossing my fingers for you! i'm sorry you won't be doing a fresh transfer, but hoping you have a lot that make it to freeze and that the next month or 2 will go by fast for you!
@momazon: @greenthumb: i had another appointment today and they saw 4 that were a good size, and 3 that were about 10mm. today is my day 9 (8 days of stims). i'm hoping the other 3 will catch up in time and if not, i'm just hoping there will be eggs this time around in the other 4 follicles. anything better than last time would be great at this point. any idea on when your ER will be @momazon? i have another appointment tomorrow which will probably determine when my ER will be (will be thurs, fri or sat!). @greenthumb: good luck with your transfer!!
@bluestriped bee: i've thought many times about switching REs, but i felt like i needed to give her one more chance. i'm not happy with where i've ended up this 2nd time around, but i don't know if i blame her for that yet...i feel like my body is just weird and not responding for some reason to these meds. it's really disappointing b/c i kinda feel like this is the best i will do, even if i were to switch REs. i don't now, definitely mixed emotions...
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Shutterbug: Oh, are our levels different to yours? I had no idea! What would 8000 be in US measurements? I am SO hopeful for a better retrieval this time around.
@FliegepilzHut: Thanks chick. Am a bundle of nerves!
@Sunshine1810: I know, still super disappointed here about no transfer this cycle.. or next! But I just am praying for some great, healthy embryos. I need something to hope for!
@GreenThumb: Woohoo! It's all happening! Have they ever tried you on progesterone pessaries instead of the oil shots? Might be more comfortable for you (but messy!) if you get another reaction.
@mama2em: To give you some hope, my last cycle only had 4 follicles. We had 3 eggs retrieved - and they were 3 GREAT eggs. They got me Georgia, and my two miscarried babies. Sometimes, the quality is more important. I know it's hard, and I KNOW how disappointed I was to only have 3 retrieved, but I'll be hoping they're amazing ones in there. xx
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@jaguar: Ours are 100-200 units per mature egg, so if it were the same for you, it would mean you have the equivalent estrogen of 40+ eggs When I googled it earlier it said 800-1000/egg by aussie units, so that would mean in US units your estrogen is somewhere around 1500-2000, which is good! It'll probably double by the time of your retrieval, which is right around where mine was last time, and we got 19 eggs. I'm very hopeful for you! Even with the higher progesterone, it does seem like you've responded very well to this protocol. How does it compare, follicle-wise, to your other fresh cycle(s)? (ETA: nevermind, I see above that you had 4 follicles... what a difference!)
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Shutterbug: Yeah, huge difference! Ha, interesting - I always thought E2 levels were the same. That's news to me! I just want healthy eggs, ya know? Numbers are great, but I want healthy babies. I'm SO nervous.
kiwi / 613 posts
@jaguar: 14 over 14 is great! It's so funny- I had 14 over 14 this morning too! Such a different response for you than last time! Fingers crossed for a great fertilization report when the time comes.
@mama2em: That must be so frustrating, to not feel like your body is responding strongly enough. Are you on pretty high stims? 7 follicles would be promising, if the others can catch up!!
I'm triggering tonight-- in about 5 minutes, actually! :). So my retrieval is Wednesday morning, then hopefully a five-day transfer on Monday! So excited to see what this week brings!
@GreenThumb: Hope LO feels better soon and doesn't pass it on! I'll be thinking sticky thoughts for you on Friday!!
Just realized how many of our current batch of IVFers already have little ones at home-- it must be quite a different experience to go through when you have a toddler to take care of at the same time!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@momazon: It's exhausting, that's for sure! And I'm a lot less patient than I was before... but I'm so grateful for Georgia.
Good luck with your upcoming retrieval. I'm really excited for you. It will be nice to cheer people on, since I'm definitely freezing all.
We found out today that I'm at risk of OHSS and that I have to do a Lucrin trigger tonight instead of the Ovidrel. So it would likely have been a freeze all anyway. I just hope we get decent eggs at the end of all this.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@jaguar: not sure if they have an equivalent there, but I was also at risk for OHSS and they put me on a med called Dostinex (Cabergoline) from retrieval day on for a week. It definitely helped.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: I'll be thinking of you Wednesday!
@jaguar: That was a pretty dramatic increase! FX that you don't get OHSS and that you have a good number of healthy eggs at your retrieval!
pear / 1986 posts
@jaguar: I'm sorry to hear about the potential for OHSS. I second the idea about the carbergoline if your doc recommends it. I'm really hopeful for you and those eggs!! Yes, I can switch if I have trouble with the PIO again. So far so good.
@momazon: Great report!! So excited for you! Hope the trigger when well. Yes, going through all of this again with a LO at home is exciting (possibility of a sibling) but also tough because I don't have time for freak outs. Life goes on no matter what . Maybe that is a good thing… a lot of distraction.
@mama2em: I really hope your appointment goes well today and those other three catch up!
pear / 1556 posts
@jaguar: I also took the cabergoline for this cycle and didn't get OHSS. My E2 level was over 5,000 (not sure what the equivalent of that is where you are, but it was very high here) at trigger and she still had me trigger with 10,000IU of Novarel (risky). Even given all that, I still didn't get OHSS, so the cabergoline definitely did it's job. If you're triggering with with Lucrin (I'm assuming like triggering with Lupron here) that should help too. After my retrieval I was drinking Gatorade like it was my job too. Not sure what helped but I was okay! I think you're going to have some GREAT eggs!
@GreenThumb: FX for you! So exciting!!

Feeling down today. A friend of mine's baby was born today (it was her second child) and another friend is very close to having her baby then I posted on that thread about when to see a RE and it's sad to think that the OP will have no where near the wait I had. These thoughts didn't come until after I posted. So I'm not annoyed or mad at the OP... it's just the thread made me realize how long I've been waiting. Just a low point for me now. Probably going to step back for HB for a little while. Maybe I'll feel better in a few days.
@mama2em: Well, I'm hoping you have a success story just like @jaguar:
@jaguar: Yay about your E2 levels and about your progesterone levels.
@GreenThumb: Your FET is so close!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@bluestriped bee: The waiting does suck...and on top of it, I'm starting to feel old. You're still on track for FET in about 2 months, right? Sending lots and lots of good thoughts to you and FX that your first transfer will be your LO(s)!
@Sunshine1810: Hugs to you, lady! Hopefully the wait won't be too bad for you...honestly, it took me about that long to get my head straight! Thinking of you!
@mama2em: How are you doing?
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@bluestriped bee: hugs I also posted on that thread about when to see the RE, and I wrote (and then deleted) "and that was two years ago". I hope your wait is over soon!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
I'm frustrated with the waiting that comes with IVF and infertility. And folks that have no idea just how heartbreaking REAL waiting can be. I would give my left leg to be able to just naturally try and conceive every month, with no interventions. Yeah, BFN's suck - but the thing is, most people just keep trying the next month & will eventually get success. We don't get that chance, and it makes me SO freaking angry.
In 2014, we had a grand total of TWO attempts to get pregnant. The two FET's (which worked, but ended in miscarriage) and then this last IVF transfer - which didn't work out. That was it. No 'just try next month!' That's it. Two. 2 attempts, out of 12 months. And people wonder why I get frustrated about 'just relaxing'.
You don't know what waiting is, until you've been through infertility.
And I'm off my tangent now. #hormonal
Trigger done last night. egg retrieval is this time tomorrow.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: We all get you. It really does suck... FX for a great retrieval and lots of happy little frosties! Hang in there!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: Assuming a Monday transfer...when will your beta be?
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@FliegepilzHut: I know you guys get it, and I'm sad about that too! xx
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: It's unbelievably sucky at times. I just have to believe that there's a sweet baby in store for (all of) us very soon!
kiwi / 613 posts
@FliegepilzHut: I think December 6th or 7th? I'll definitely do a home test a few days before, but not too early.
@jaguar: Best of luck for a stellar retrieval tomorrow, and a strong fertilization report! Yes, the waiting sucks. I've been trying for over five years to have my first baby. To help, I try to focus on the positives and remember to count my blessings, instead of always only looking on the negative side of things and focusing on what is going wrong. I will not let infertility steal my happiness and joy and optimism. Nope. Not gonna give those up.
@GreenThumb: Thank you! I can imagine the tired nights and the weight of all the extra responsibilities get partially cancelled out by having an adorable little LO to snuggle with and laugh with, etc. But then the craving for another one is ever the more strong, I'm sure. We'll get through it!
@bluestriped bee: I'm so sorry you're having a rough day. Your wait really has been so long-- I know it's for a good reason (better chance with the FET vs. the fresh), but that doesn't make it any easier to muddle through. I send you all my best hopes for a distracting, fun-filled end of the year. Next year is going to be amazing!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: Ditto what @Shutterbug: said! I you so much right now!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@momazon: You're much stronger than me. I feel bad for complaining now. I'm sorry.
kiwi / 613 posts
@jaguar: This is definitely a safe space to vent - I'm sorry if i came across as thinking otherwise. We all need to do that to keep sane and I've done my fair share here! I certainly wasn't feeling so strong earlier tonight when I shed a few tears of stress and frustration. But I had my little cry and then shook it off, and now I'm feeling excitedly nervous about tomorrow's potential results. (For both of us!)
I know the whole rainbows/sunshine/fake-it-till-you-make-it thing doesn't work for everyone, though, and we all need to find the coping mechanism that works best for us. We'll all be in your corner tomorrow, cheering you on and supporting you however you need us.
@Shutterbug: @FliegepilzHut: Thanks so much, that means a lot! Let's keep pressing onwards and upwards! (I hear that's where they keep all the cutest babies, hahaha!)
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: @momazon: Thinking all the good thoughts for you both right now! I'm hoping for stellar retrievals for both of you!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: BTW: I don't think a good frustrated cry the night before your retrieval is a bad thing. FX hard for you this cycle!!!
kiwi / 613 posts
All done with my retrieval! 15 eggs! Really pleased with that number- I think this new protocol was a good one for me. Hopefully will have good fertilization numbers tomorrow! Couch for the rest of the day with Gilmore Girls reruns on Netflix haha.
pear / 1986 posts
@momazon: Awesome news!! I am so happy for you!! You deserve to watch as many Gilmore Girls episodes as you want today. FX for an excellent report tomorrow.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: Yay!!! I hope you have a great day on the couch and that DH brings you awesome take-out!
