@IRunForFun: Awesome the LC was able to get you some support!! I feel soooo uncoordinated under the eyes of an LC!!

@Mrs. Toad: eeeeee! Looking forward to hearing your news!

Ended up walking like 5km yesterday! To the grocery store, then to DSs daycare, then to DD1s school and then home with them all, dog came too, and B slept through it all! It ended up wet snowing/raining on us, but baby was all snuggled in, hovering right around the freezing mark these last couple days and SO damp out. I want real winter back or milder temps!

Doc appt today, I weighed myself since no scale at home. Down 25lbs, 25lbs to go! B was up to 9.35lbs, and on the ups for all measurements so that was good. Doc thinks her spitty/congested thing I was/am worried about is either some reflux or mild respiratory thing with the coughs in our house (DH and kids all have coughs), so just to keep an eye on her and come back no question if I'm worried. Need a home today tomorrow, today felt non-stop. Visited my Grandma after doc, drove home, walked dog, wolfed down a two hour late lunch and then it was time to get the big kids. Day of nothing will be so fab tomorrow.

Also, anyone else's LO go from like gassy or legit smiles to crying in two seconds. It breaks my heart, but is kind of hilarious too! Poor soul. We're "chatting" and she's all happy and then bam....wailing. So unpredictable!

@sunnyday: I'm not letting myself weigh myself till I go for my PP visit on the 16th. I feel like crap about myself. My rings don't fit me still, and it is really bothering me. I miss wearing all my bands. Maternity clothes are too big but normal clothes don't fit me. I am going to dig out my tub of clothes from before I lost a bunch of weight in '15. I kept for this reason and hope some jeans work. DH tells me I look great and everyone says you just had a baby give yourself a break, but easier said then done.

I did get dressed and actually do my hair today. LO and I went to the mall, she slept the whole time. I got the girls coordinating shirts for V-Day. Then I came home and ordered some summer outfits as well. At least DH will be gone most likely when that package comes.

I am giving up dairy and seeing if it helps her gas issues. Also I think her poops look a little mucusey. So we will see if it helps. Day one and all I want is things with milk in it. So I really hope it isn't something I have to give up long term.

For those who have had their babies how are you feeling physically? I don't know if it's just unrealistic expectations but I wasn't expecting to still be mostly out of commission 6 days post partum . My stomach just feels weak and although I'm not bleeding a concerning amount it increases if I do much more than walk around the house. Hoping to be back to myself soon.

@Smurfette: all I want is a big ass glass of milk. Ughhh! I'm not eliminating, but being super mindful of dairy consumption and yes me too, it's all I want!! Re: weight stuff, I'm still wearing the same tights (old UA workout tights) I was when preggo. Like you, maternity stuff too big or just blah, and regular stuff I couldn't get past my knee! Trying to be patient with myself too, can't help myself with walks, but just want to get onto shedding real weight asap.

@Peasinapod: I felt really good following my second and this/third deliveries, like go for a run good, but not actually. Lots of bleeding if I up my activity still (3w pp today). I bled to 6w with my first two....and got periods two weeks after that even EBF. I'm so so so sick of wearing pads, they're so terrible!!

@IRunForFun: @sunnyday: Walking makes me feel so much more like myself! It's been beautiful (70 to 80 degrees) here and I've been shooting for an hour a day. Glad you guys were both able to get some walk time in.

@Smurfette: @sunnyday: I feel bad complaining, but last time I lost all the weight plus some in about a week and am somewhat disappointed that it hasn't been that easy this time. I tried my pre-pregnancy pants on yesterday and it was not pretty. How long is it socially acceptable to wear maternity pants again?

@Peasinapod: I feel okay, but weak! I am just starting to feel a lot better at two weeks.

@Mrs. Toad: Hope all goes well! Can't wait to hear your update.

@Peasinapod: I feel fine. I was sore down there for like 4-5 days but otherwise this time has been way easier. My bleeding is pretty much gone but I am still wearing a pad just in case.
@Mrs. Toad: you might have one tonight if you are at 5cm!
@babypugs: weight loss has never been easy for me. So I shouldn't be surprised. Last time I lost the weight by the time I went back to work but pants still didn't fit. My hips and thighs are huge still again this time.

@Peasinapod: with my first I had a pretty uncomplicated vaginal delivery (I did have some tearing and stitches though) and was still moving pretty slow for about a week. I remember walking down the block and thinking that was as far as I could go! things got much better/easier after that point, so hopefully you'll be feeling better this weekend!

still hanging out and pregnant here! I'm due Monday and no signs of anything happening. my next doctor's appointment is Tuesday. I'm bet she comes towards the end of next week.

@Peasinapod: I felt really rough the first 3 days or so. Like my body had been hit by a truck. I felt weak and sore everywhere! Started turning a corner on day 4 and feeling much better now 8 days out. Still have a bit of pelvic/pubic bone soreness but I can walk without hobbling.

    @Mrs. Toad: Congratulations!!

Last night was our first super rough night. DD fussed/cried/screamed from 9 pm to 2 am unless she was on the boob. I think she had some gas as she kept getting the hiccups and was spitting up some and generally acting uncomfortable. She finally calmed down around 2 but still woke to nurse every 90 mins. Soooo tired.

    How's everyone doing?

We are still struggling with breastfeeding. I've been able to get DD to latch since our last appointment with the LC and having the tongue tie fixed but she's still doing damage to the sides of my nipples. They're oozing pus now. The LC told me how to mix up my own version of APNO (equal parts 1% steroid cream, triple antibiotic ointment, and yeast infection cream) and I'm seeing her again this afternoon. DD eats every 2 to 3 hours and each night waking takes an hour by the time I feed and change her, get her back down, and treat my nipples. So I'm only sleeping in 1 hour stretches. Plus she hates the bassinet on the pack n play, is hit or miss in the rock n play, and will only reliably sleep in bed next to me or on DH's chest.

Someone tell me this all gets better!!

@IRunForFun: Doing okay here. Had a rough night two nights ago and feel like everyone is paying for it today, I'm a grouch!

I've pretty much done all three kids on my own the last 48 hours, and I'm really looking forward to Monday montning when the two older's are out of the house and DH is at work!! I just crave the quiet of just her and I SO badly. DH has been painting downstairs all weekend as carpet goes in Tuesday. Just feeling pressure of that project and so close to done, so he's working, but not helping me any, lol. He is off Tuesday and I have told him make no plans as he's all mine to just help and focus on B as we didn't get that his days home after she was born with the sick big kids.

@IRunForFun: I'm so sorry!! I had SO many breastfeeding struggles with my first. TT, bleeding nipples, APNO, so many LCs, so I totally feel you. BUT, it does get better. Hopefully the LC will have some positioning tips for you today so you can move forward! I feel like a month old was a huge turning point for us in our nursing journey and I was able to bf until she was 20 months.

Still pregnant! My due date is tomorrow. I am pretty sure i lost my mucus plug yesterday, so that's something I guess! I have contractions here and there, but nothing with a real pattern or anything that would disrupt my day. Next appointment is Tuesday, so we will see what they say! I think she will be here by the end of the week.

@IRunForFun: I can't say much about how it gets better. I didn't have breastfeeding issues last time.

We got out of the hospital yesterday and have the first checkup tomorrow. My biggest issue is breastfeeding. I am a 32G with big nipples and her mouth is just not big enough. The shallow latch is causing massive pain. I hope a lactation consultant will be able to help. There is an open session at the hospital tomorrow afternoon.

@madger: Good luck. Hopefully your baby will make its arrival sooner rather than later. I never realized I was having contractions, but the induction started at a 5 and 90% effaced.

@IRunForFun: Hanging in there! We're definitely in the "never put me down" stage, but I'm getting one good two-ish hour stretch at night, which never happened with my first, so can't complain about that. I promise breastfeeding will get easier! Hang in there, I'm sorry it's such a struggle. I'm in a lot off pain every time she eats off my right side, and that never went away with my first. I suspect that that nipple just sucks.

@sunnyday: Yeah my husband gets so bored dealing with kid stuff and keeps finding projects. Grr!

LO1 has been sick the whole 2.5 weeks of LO2's life. I got called in to daycare Friday and rushed her to the doc after finding out about all the kids in her class with strep. She had a temp of 104 at the doctor and was just sooo pitiful, but fortunately tested negative for flu and strep. But it's been so hard giving her the comfort and attention she needs while breastfeeding and attempting to keep them separated! Breaks my heart.

    @madger: Happy almost due date!

@sunnyday: I have noooo idea how you are managing 3 kiddos!! So much respect.

@madger: That's encouraging to hear it got better and you were able to BF that long. So many times per day I'm like "I am ready to give up!" The LC did help though. I wish she could come live with me!! Happy almost due date!!!

@Mrs. Toad: I hope the LC can help; ours has been invaluable. I have a similar issue, I'm a 32F pre-preg and DD has the tiniest mouth. Positioning is what matters most to get her on, I think.

@babypugs: Aw well I'm not glad you're going through it but glad to know I'm not alone in not being able to put the baby down. I was convincing myself she'll never sleep anywhere but our bed/arms - and she's only 10 days old! She did do her last 90 min stretch early this morning in the rock n play, which was nice. I'm hoping to keep putting her in it and eventually having her do most/all stretches in it. It's hard to be patient and wait for her to settle when it's 1 am and I want to go to sleep and I know she'll settle in my bed. So sorry your DD has been so sick - I hope all the rest of you stay healthy!!

@IRunForFun: it gets better! I hope the LC has something new for you to try. It is so hard this young, their mouths are so small, so hard to get a right latch. And they are so sleepy which doesn't help.
@sunnyday: I am really looking forward to time just me and baby tomorrow. I feel like I haven't gotten good snuggles this weekend.
@madger: I hope you go into labor soon. Hang in there.
@Mrs. Toad: wow! I thought my boobs were big. I hope it gets better soon.
@babypugs: I hope DD1 gets better soon. That has to be so hard. You are doing great Mommy!

I don't think LO is emptying as well. I feel full still after she eats and I am starting to leak. After talking with friends I decided to just cut back in dairy but not give it up completely. Her gas issues are getting a little better but this way next week I can show the pedi a dirty diaper, with dairy, so she can check the mucus ( she doesn't have blood). She has really bad baby acne and I hate it!

    @madger: Happy almost due date!!!

@Mrs. Toad: hope the LC can give some good help that will work for you!

@babypugs: Good she tested negative, but still yuck on the fever. When my two had one that first week it was so not fun. Keeping them from each other was hard and my hands were so dry and hard from so much handwashing.

@IRunForFun: lol I don't either. I remember just after we had DD1 I would watch our neighbour with two Nd then three and my mind was just blown, had no concept of how that was even possible. Now I obviously have no option and it's not that bad, but I still think it's me succoning to the fact I don't have a choice! I won't lie, I really do love three versus one or two! Wouldn't worry about feelings of not being able to put her down. I'm a big believer in 4th trimester babies and anything goes at this point I definitely sobbed over thinking I'd never sleep in my bed again early in DD1 days, it gets better! I aim for a percentage of the night of sleep on me and not, but seem to be caving to putting her in bed with me from 5am on.

She has that dotty (yeast?) diaper rash. Of course we were just at doc, I know there is a prescription cream that will clear it up quick, but really don't want to wait in docs office again!

Thanks for the encouragement. LC showed me how to get a deeper latch. Hopefully, I can manage to do so at home. I also got a prescription to help heal my breasts.

DD is doing well. She has only lost 4% of her birth weight. Right now, she is eating or sleeping. I am waiting for her to wake up at least a little bit. Occasionally, I can even manage to put her down.

Hope everyone else is doing well today.

Ah so behind! I'm basically off grid from Fri-Mon, aka whenever my 2 year old is not at school!

@sunnyday: I feel so bad but I totally laugh when she's gassy and grunting and having a hard time lol. My mind IS blown that you can solo 3 haha. I feel like I only survive solo-ing 2 right now with the help of screen time!

@Smurfette: I hope you figure this diary thing out! I feel so gross myself too... Forget about the actual weight; I still look like I could be pregnant and have been too lazy to wear the belt. The only good thing this time is I'm moving around so much more b/c of DD1 and I basically don't snack b/c I don't have time to or I choose to sleep! But I didn't even loose the weight from DD1 when I got pregnant this time so I know I'll really have to put in more effort this time...

@Peasinapod: It's hard! Every person/pregnancy is different. I was SO sore with my first b/c I pushed for almost 2 hours but vaginal recovery was great even though I tore and got cut. This time I also tore/got cut but recovery was great as well and not sore! I hope you're feeling better now!

@Mrs. Toad: Congratulations! Those sleepy heads and their shallow latches! I can say that at 6 weeks, K's latches really well now! Tho I still have to sandwich my boobs to help her

@IRunForFun: How's BF going? I am sooo sorry it's still so hard. I would just keep talking to/seeing your LC to get as much help as possible. As they get bigger they really should latch better on their own too... Hang in there!

@madger: Hope you have a good appt today and have some progress!

@babypugs: Oh man, I hope she feels better! I literally just pray everyday we make it out of this flu season alive!

K has really amazing naps during the day right now.. The main thing we changed is now I put her upstairs with white noise b/c she was starting to make up from my 2 year old screaming/yelling, etc where as she used to just sleep through it all. Not able to get much activity time in.. She takes forever to nurse, burp, then nurse the other side so 45 min wake up is pretty much spent doing that. Might try to break up the bassinet and try to put her in there at night.. Currently I just plop her next to me since it's just us on the king bed. But if she wakes more often that way I have no problem bringing her back next to me! Also, all naps are slept on her side no swaddle; I find that she sleeps much better that way and since it's during the day I can keep an eye on her. At night it's on her back swaddled.

  31. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: BF is getting a little better. We had our follow-up with the specialist yesterday and he said everything with the tongue tie revision looks good and it should all get better as she gets bigger and her muscles in her jaw get stronger. My nipples aren't healed by any means but with the cream and salt water soaks they're not as painful or oozing pus so...progress?

We are having similar issues with naps/night sleep! DD will sleep 2ish hours in the rock n play during the day, but at night, forget it, I'm lucky if she'll do 30 mins in it. Then she'll fuss and eventually cry until I put her into bed with me. I had been setting her down in the rock n play after each feeding hoping it'll stick but last night I was so tired I gave up on that and just put her straight in bed. Night wakings take SO long. She's only eating from one side at a time but she'll nurse 10 to 15 mins and pop off, I change her to wake her up a bit, then she goes back on for another 10 to 15 mins. By the time I swaddle her and soothe her and treat my nipples I've been up 45 mins to an hour. So even if she's only eating (from start to start) every 2 or 3 hours, I'm sleeping in only 1 hour to 90 min stretches. I think I'll focus more on getting her to sleep elsewhere after BFing has gotten easier and more efficient.

@Mrs. Toad: Glad the LC was able to help! How've you been doing with BF at home? It's so hard to recreate what the LC shows me when she's not right there helping!

@IRunForFun: I had no schedule routine whatsoever with my first, haha. This time I'm trying to establish better routine/habits but I still believe anything goes for now!

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: so glad BF is getting better. I am with you in the night wakings. We do diaper, eats 10-15 on one side, burp, swaddle, and then feed the other side, 10mins max. Then I have to hold her for 20 mins before I can put her down. So it takes 45-60 mins depending on how she is that night. It is frustrating. I keep waiting for her to go past three hours to eat but not happening. Putting her to bed at night is so frustrating. She eats, then takes over an hour to fall asleep. So I get 30-60 mins at the most for the first stretch at night. Which really is when babies do the longest stretch.
@snowjewelz: where is she napping? I still find plenty of time for snacking. I get so bored at home, so I eat.

I really wish I could figure out how to get her to put herself to sleep. Life would be much better if we could just put her down and she would go to sleep.

Baby Quinn decided she wanted to be a January baby after all! She came fast and furious (I literally was run by nurses from the car to L&D and was told to start pushing immediately) and was born yesterday, 1/31 at 2:45am. She is a peanut at 6lbs14oz and 19.5inches. Nursing is going okay, working on her latch (I think I have ptsd from all the issues we had with my first), but she is doing great and they are letting us go home today!! I'm so excited for her to meet her big sister!

@snowjewelz: I'm feeling much better now, have for a couple of days now. I think a big part of the problem is I'd heard how much easier recovery normally was after your second so I was expecting to bounce back instantly, so abnormal recovery time seemed long to me.

@Peasinapod: Haha I always assume the worst so I've been pleasantly surprised both times! I can say now I'm okay to solo both (not all day tho please, lol). It just takes a while to find a new rhythm (not that a newborn really has much of a schedule)

K was up like every 2 hrs last night... But I think it was b/c we forced a bath when she was tired so then she got overtired. But today I hadn't been able to put her down at all so as I'm tying she's all wrapped up napping on me. I usually count on her naps to get some chores done but now some chores gotta wait! I'm also trying really hard not to drop food on her head
