@babypugs: the hair loss is bad over here. I hate taking a shower and having to wash my hair.
@snowjewelz: Yay!
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Smurfette: Awww hopefully her system gets used to it soon!
@babypugs: Hugs! Sorry you're feeling so down. My hair is falling out like crazy too. It's disgusting. I feel like I'm going to be bald. Is your DD still not sleeping well? Hope it turns around soon!
@snowjewelz: Yay for a roller! DD's arm always got stuck when she first started rolling too. She figured it out soon though!
@Mrs. Toad: Yeah, we are still working on it. Since I stay home with her I'm sure that contributes.
clementine / 770 posts
@babypugs: @IRunForFun: @Mrs. Toad: turns out she's only giant compared to my first. She's almost 14lbs and right in the 50th percentile . My first was always 10th though so this seems big!!
Vaccines are so hard. I hate seeing her cry. She looked very betrayed.
@IRunForFun: my dh isn't a huge baby person so he was fine with dd1 always wanting me. I think if you stay consistent he'll find comforting techniques that work for him.

@Peasinapod: Aww! I can't help but laugh... I can imagine that they do feel betrayed like hey, I thought we're just getting a check up... Everyone's smiling at me and talking to me... Then BAM!

@Peasinapod: Good size on her though. Sorry about the vaccines.
I'm hoping they will let us do vaccines tomorrow. Technically, she won't be 4 months until Saturday. It has been 8 weeks since the 2 month shots and I don't want to have to wait until Tuesday and go back just for shots. We won't have to pay, but the time annoyance.

Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well.
We are okay here. Some ppd definitely has a hold of me. Same timing all three kids, 4-5 months pp the worst. Everyone has colds right now. Either boogie noses or coughs that just won't let go! Very over it, especially as the nice weather gets more consistent. B is good. Still not really doing any good night sleeping. What feels like a zillion wake ups and now testing out her new talking/roaring skills at all hours, lol. She's happy though, and is napping great during the day. Still screaming constantly in the car, so I would take any tips or tricks that may work for you, even if just once, lol. 20 hour drive in two months, we are scared, lol.
I grabbed her baby book tonight to do any update and found myself over here to see if I could catch any milestones with approximate dates! I have a pretty good memory, but so easy to forget little things that are fun to write down.
Hope everyone is doing well

@Mrs. Toad: Did they let you do the vaccines?
@sunnyday: Oh man, I'm sorry you're dealing with PPD. You were already taking an SSRI, right? Are you able to adjust the dose at all, or do some talk therapy?
How was everyone's weekend? We didn't do anything big, but we did go furniture shopping and buy a new living room set and a king-size bed. DH took on a lot of the baby care this weekend in an attempt to remedy the mommy preference, and did night duty for 3 nights, so it was a nice break for me!
Nothing much new going on for DD. She did do her first belly laughs on a Friday, but hasn't done any since! She's at the stage of trying to put her feet in her mouth, but hasn't quite gotten it yet. Oh, she did start reaching for my food for the first time ever. Ended up putting her hand smack in the middle of my avocado toast and tried to grab a pretzel. Excited to start solids in about 6 weeks!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@sunnyday: Aww, I hope you are able to do some self care! It's crazy how ppd manifests for different moms. I def had the baby blues worst at the beginning.
@IRunForFun: Nice that you got a break! I hope she won't reject daddy as much as time goes on!
Mine is CRAZY about food. She will grab at anything we're holding and try to shove it in her mouth (well, that goes with non food items too...) And she is constantly trying head dive into the food we're holding too! And she'll stare at you the whole time you eat. I'm pretty sure we're gonna wait till she's official 6 months (which is in 3 weeks) to start. And I think we'll just dive right into BLW (we did puree for ~2 weeks with DD1). Crazy!!!
Sleep is still meh over here. Not bad enough that I'm dying but def wakes up 1-2 times to nurse and likes to sleep in my arms.

@IRunForFun: They did let us do vaccines. The biggest reason to be happy is that we have a cruise scheduled for a week after her 6 month vaccines. To do those on time, we had to get these on time.
Glad to hear that Daddy got some time with her. Hopefully, she eases up on that Mommy preference
@sunnyday: Sorry to hear about the PPD. Hope you can spend some time on yourself and start to feel better.

Good doctors appointment on Friday. DD is now 14 lbs, but she dropped on percentiles - 62% now. I think it's because she only eats 5/6 times a day and STTN. She is also 25" long. We were also cleared to start solids. I want to wait until she is sitting a little better though. She hasn't tried to grab food yet.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@sunnyday: I'm sorry!! I hope you get to feeling better soon! The convertible seat isn't helping with the car? Can one of the other kids sit next to her, maybe seeing someone will help?
@IRunForFun: King size bed is marriage must in my book. You will love it! We get the occasional laugh and I love love it!
@Mrs. Toad: big girl! Glad they did the vaccines. A cruise will be so nice.
Nothing new over here. Sleep is a crap shoot still. She napped in the crib on Sat great. Then Sun and Mon, she wouldn't nap more then 10-20 mins in the crib. She keeps rolling on her back in her sleep, and forgets she can roll back. So we go in and flip her, but then it repeats all night. So we did a little CIO on Sunday night, after 4 wake ups in 30 mins (luckily it wasn't hours of crying). Last night went better. She took a later nap, so I nursed her then like an hour later formula at bed (I will be done nursing by this weekend). She took a while to settle but then slept till 3! Longest stretch in a long time. First time we have done formula at night, but I will love if formula helped her sleep better. If only I slept, I kept thinking she was going to wake up. Hopefully soon she will stop waking up at 5am too. She still spits up all day, or is wet from drool. But she really is a happy, smiling little peanut!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Mrs. Toad: STTN is so awsome! And I am waiting too... She can only tripod for now so I want to wait till she can sit a little straighter. Also as she is #2 I am just not in a hurry to start since it's more work
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Smurfette: Yay, so you can eat all the diary you want again! And yes I agree that a king bed is a must!
pomelo / 5509 posts
@snowjewelz: I'm wanting to do BLW too, but I am a bit nervous about choking. I need to do more research!
@Mrs. Toad: Glad the appointment went well! So great that she STTN!
@Smurfette: DD does the same with rolling onto her back and forgetting she can roll the other way. It's so annoying!! Sometimes she'll settle and fall asleep on her side, but most times if she gets onto her back she needs help. Oooo I am going to be so jealous of you eating dairy!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@IRunForFun: Watching allll the videos you can find about choking vs gagging! It made me a lot more comfortable. And also as long as you're giving her stuff of mushier texture (sweet potato, avocado, etc) or stuff diced so small that you know it fits through her throat, then she can only gag (which is totally normal and good for learning).
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@snowjewelz: Not yet! I have to get through this week still. But I told DH that we are going out for pizza Sat night since LO1 has been asking to go and we have a wedding on the 10th and you can bet I am going to save my WW points so I can have cake!
persimmon / 1095 posts
@snowjewelz: @IRunForFun: Don't be jealous, but STTN is great. I don't know how everyone is surviving without it. I don't sleep well with DD, so we turned to CIO early for going to sleep, so she would not be in my bed. I have never used CIO with dropping night feedings, my kids just do that early.
We mostly did BLW with DS. As I told my dad, it's because I'm lazy. I don't want to have to spoon feed them. As for clean-up, we just fed in a diaper and straight to bath. The other handled cleaning the floor.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Mrs. Toad: Exactly... BLW is truly convenient, haha! DH still wants to make a little puree for her to put in the self feeder... I'm like, be my guest! I don't want extra work, haha!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Toad: @snowjewelz: See I think BLW is harder. More mess to clean up. Spoon is easy to control the mess since I control it. Plus cooking their food separate, since they can't have salt is a pain.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Smurfette: ugh DD1 refused to be spoonfed anyway, so we dealt with messes no matter what! I think it helps that we have dog to clean up most of it I don't cook but I think DH usually would either cook something quick or take food out before seasoning. We weren't too strict about salt since she didn't eat a lot anyway and we cook pretty light at home.
persimmon / 1101 posts
@sunnyday: I'm sorry. Glad you are able to recognize it and hopefully get a plan in place.
@IRunForFun: Good! Lots of cooking out and sun. I had to work yesterday but DD wound up refusing the bottle and I had to come home early. I thought we were past this!
@IRunForFun: @snowjewelz: I probably shouldn't but I've been letting LO lick things. (apples, etc.) So funny to watch her face! We did some BLW with DD1, some traditional baby foods. I loved seeing people's reactions when our 9 month old would chow down on steak!
@Smurfette: Pizza!!!!!
pomelo / 5509 posts
@babypugs: Oh don't feel bad, we've let LO lick things too. DH let her lick a grapefruit the other day and her face was priceless. I did let her lick a pretzel too.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@babypugs: @IRunForFun: hahaha! I'm pretty sure she had almost put food in her mouth before b/c she is so quick!

@babypugs: My IL's 50th anniversary is this year and they are taking the whole family on a Disney cruise. We will be leaving Orlando, going to Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and their island in the Bahamas.
I'm not really looking forward to it. I have the only babies and DD will nap at least twice a day and goes to bed early. The other grandchildren are 13, 9, and 6. I'm hoping I get to enjoy dinner without her wanting to sleep. I barely managed to enjoy dinner on a previous cruise when DS was 8 months.
At least my IL's have consented to watching my kids for one excursion. If I can enjoy dinner and get my one excursion, I will be happy.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Mrs. Toad: Ahhh, Disney cruise! Love! I hope some family will be willing to babysit more so you can at least enjoy it a little! It does suck at this stage. Is your DS potty trained so he can go in the pools?
persimmon / 1095 posts
@snowjewelz: No, I don't know if we will be able to get him to try otherwise. He starts preschool in two weeks, so unless he is willing to try, I'm not going to push. Otherwise, I expect no family to watch them.

All this blw talk is making me really want to go that rout this time. My first never took to solids. Even now eats like a bird, so I'm hoping to have a better experience this time around and maybe not make the same mistakes.
Post any tips and hints and how you first get started!

@Mrs. Toad: my sister does Disney cruises with her kids all the time and loves it! Do you baby wear? The year she went when her son was still a baby she just wore him in the Tula the entire time. He nursed, napped, everything in there so she still got to participate in everything. (I've never been on a cruise so I'm not sure what all the logistics are)
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Mrs. Toad: One day they'll be old enough to let you enjoy a vacation! I have a 2.5 year old and she has no interest in potty training either... I'm patiently waiting for her to initiate too, preferably this summer, lol!
persimmon / 1095 posts
@Peasinapod: I have, but we have mainly used the stroller. We just bought a carrier. Otherwise, I have been borrowing them from Babywearers International. It should be here this week. I'm hoping DD will be willing to sleep in it. She does so well going to sleep in the crib. I have no problem nursing in public.
persimmon / 1095 posts
@snowjewelz: I know. DS starts preschool in three weeks. Assuming it goes ok, I may do a weekend in July. Otherwise, he will be allowed to use the splash pads.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Peasinapod: I feel like how they eat starting out is no indication of how they eat later! DD1 ate great with BLW and will try any/everything and we introduced eggs and what not right away too.... But she def still went through phases of being picky as a toddler!
kiwi / 573 posts
@Smurfette: she can see both of them from her spot and sometimes it helps, but most of the time as soon as the straps go over her shoulders....it starts and she won't even take the pack, just goes totally nuclear.
We are giving B cereal (oatmeal w breast milk) and she looooves it. Giving her tastes of things as she attacks so long as it's not something she really shouldn't have. She's definitely ready, but I'm not in any rush either. We have given her the odd baby cracker to keep her happy and let DH and Ineat warm dinner and she like vibrates when she sees them. We will do a combo of puree and BLW. Just for variety and comfort zone. Some stuff is way easier in pieces and some stuff I just don't have the guts to try, lol.
So to top things off, I either have a 24 hour bug or food poisoning. I have never thrown up so much in my life, like ever. I have aches/sweats/chills today and never had food poisoning before so that's why I'm not sure. I laid on the bathroom floor most of the night, things have come out both ends and there's a long list of things I won't be eating ever again or for a long while. I hope to get the guts to eat soon and hopefully some rest tonight.
Bs new thing in crib is she can wiggle forward, gets herself against crib wall and keeps banging her head. Doesn't yet get she could roll over/away. Silly girl.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@sunnyday: C does the same thing in the crib. She wiggles a lot at night and usually goes from one end of the crib to the other. She finally truly woke up MOTN last night when she had reached the end and tried to wriggle forward and mushed her head into the rails. She was very confused.
kiwi / 573 posts
@IRunForFun: crooked neck and everything. No wonder she gets upset, but funny she keeps trying to go that wa y!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@sunnyday: Accck, I hope you're doing better! That does not sound good
So I was reading that in leap 5 (what she is in now), she is learning about distance and I notice it for sure! She cries when I move away from her! And instead of just being so happy when I come home from work, yesterday she got upset that I was home but wasn't holding her!
kiwi / 573 posts
@snowjewelz: I haven't paid attention to leap's, but those two things you mentioned are totally true here! She squaks when I walk away and has a pathetic little cry when someone else is holding her, but I'm next to them, like.....take me Mom!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
How's everyone doing? LO is so congested again. She also seems to have some kind of bug. She is pooping a ton, and now has a horrible rash. Just when we were finally getting decent sleep. Although last night she slept better, I woke her a little before 3 to feed her. But she isn't eating much in the mornings. Now that she is fully on bottles, it is so stressful making sure she is eating what she needs too. But she just doesn't want to eat a lot. She does better at school, she eats her full bottles there.
I am finally feeling some relief from engorgement. Weaning has been really painful and hard this time. But it is so nice to see normal poops from her. She seems much happier and less gassy!
