@travellingbee: congrats & I can totally relate. I stopped commenting on the IF checkin thread shortly after my BFP & didn't feel like I belonged anywhere. Even now, despite being 39 weeks, I have yet to join the due date threads. This thread definitely eased my concerns in the first & second tri.

I hope everyone is doing well! How is everyone else's pregnancy or new born days going?

Hi Everyone, this is a little late, life if obviously crazy with a newborn if I haven't been on HB for 2 weeks Well I went into Labor the evening of my due date and had my little girl the next day April 16th. She was 7 lbs 1 oz. Love her so much!

Not sure where to post this - I don't want to start a new thread...

My LO is 7w, and at my last OB appointment, she asked what I wanted to do for contraception. She caught me off guard, and some words came out of my mouth and now I have a prescription for the pill. My question is, am I crazy to NTNP? I have PCOS and I got pregnant thanks to IVF. My mom probably had PCOS and waited years to have my brother, and then I was an oops. I always assumed it would be the same for me, so my very uneducated plan was to NTNP after LO is born. Then, if nothing happens by the time I'm nearing 35 (I'm 33 now), then I'll transfer one of my frosties. Done!

But am I crazy to NTNP right now? Anyone else thinking similarly?

@ineebee: I have a 3 week old after IVF so I will have to make that decision soon too. I think I will be going on the pill of some sort. I know for a lot of people, their bodies are more fertile after giving birth and have heard of people getting pregnant naturally after IVF with endo which I have. I just couldn't imagine getting pregnant anytime soon. We will probably start trying again when our lo is nearing a year old but we also have a few frosties too.

    * I remember this being a thread recently and found it for you.

@ineebee: Hi there, just saw this come up although I don't post on the IF boards here. If you are comfortable having your kids close together (there are lots of reasons why people prefer this, and lots why they avoid it) I say go for NTNP. Anecdotally it does seem like many mamas are able to get pregnant much more quickly and with fewer/no interventions after their bodies have already been through a pregnancy. GL in your decision!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Thanks for that link - that thread is exactly what I needed! I didn't realize it, but some of the reasons people gave in that thread for not going on BC resonated with me: being sick of meds and not introducing the possibility of yet another reason why I can't get pregnant. Of course, these are all just mental blocks, but so much of IF is managing the mental and emotional challenges.

@shellio: My brother and I are 18 months apart, and it was great! I'm definitely open to having kids close in age, and pregnancy was pretty easy on me (relatively!). It wouldn't be my desire to get pregnant ASAP, but every cycle in the next 2 years seem precious to me, and I don't want to "waste" any of them!

    Thanks, ladies, for your thoughts!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: congrats!! Hope your lo is letting you sleep! Lol.

@ineebee: I think as long as you are ok if u did get pregnant, go for ntnp. I got pregnant naturally after less than 12 cycles of trying. We started trying when my ivf twins were almost 9 months. Good luck!

@bluestriped bee: I'm so jealous! Congratulations!
@ineebee: I got pregnant after 3 cycles NTNP with the twins. If you're breastfeeding steadily I think you can skip the pill and it will at least give you a couple of months before you'd get pregnant. I'm planning on eventually getting an iud as I don't want to ever be on the pill again.

How did you finally get your BFP? Clomid.. second cycle 100mg.
Any previous children? Miscarriage, no living children.
Do you know your babies gender yet? Nope!
Are you more excited at this point or still fearful? Fearful, but as each week passes (I got my BFP at 3 weeks and 3 days) and with my last few HCG checks, I'm starting to get less fearful and more excited.

    Currently: 6 weeks, 1 day
    EDD: 1/5/2016
How did you finally get your BFP? Our first FET cycle (I couldn't have a fresh transfer during my February IVF cycle because I was so sick with OHSS)
Any previous children? No, one previous pregnancy that ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks
Do you know your babies gender yet? No, but definitely want to find out!
Are you more excited at this point or still fearful? So excited, but definitely more fearful - I had heavy bleeding last week so I am a nervous wreck after that. Everything looked okay by ultrasound though so we are hoping for the best

@kristinleigh: @lauren0817: Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy!

@lauren0817: When is your next appt? Are you still with the RE or have you seen the OB?

@bluestriped bee: Thank you so much! I am still seeing my RE - we haven't discussed when he will kick me out yet, but I want to stay as long as possible Right now we are doing weekly ultrasounds - my next one is on Friday.

@lauren0817: I loved all the attention my RE gave me after getting pregnant. It was so nice. I graduated from my RE at 9 weeks. It was so different when I went to my OB. OB is great and nice but she is so busy. The u/s tech at my OB is definitely not as happy as my RE when I have u/s. I miss it.

  25. lauren0817

    apricot / 369 posts

@bluestriped bee: yeah I hear you about loving the extra attention! I am almost 7 weeks, so hopefully he'll let me stay for another 2 weeks I also associate the OB's office with having a miscarriage - it was at my 10 week OB visit that the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat and told me I had a missed miscarriage. I know it sounds crazy, but I might actually go to different office location (same doctors, but they have 3 office locations) this time around so I can avoid those memories for the time being. This journey can be so hard.

I'm 19 weeks and doing well! We had secondary infertility with DOR and 2 miscarriages. We got pregnant on a Clomid and trigger cycle after a failed IUI. I'm so happy to not have TTC again. (This is our last child). Everything seems great with this little guy. He moves and kicks a ton and is measuring a little big. Due date Jan 4th!

Congrats everyone! I have not gone on this forum in so long as I've adjusted to life with my little girl. I finally got to put her down for a nap now as previously she would only sleep in my arms. I just commented to a friend that a year ago yesterday was the day I found out we were pregnant. Time sure does fly by!

I'm 32w3d pregnant with my B/G twins (through IVF) and if they stay in... I'll be meeting them in about 11-13 days!! PPROM at 28 weeks is making me deliver them at 34 weeks and my Dr is so happy that I hit the 32 week mark.

@lazypanda: this time last year, we were meeting with the RE to start the lab work and procedures to start IVF. It's been quite a year for us.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: currently first pregnancy after 1 1/2 of TTC. Still nervous. I'm 11 weeks today (with one). I preface that because I'm an identical twin and we did Clomid which makes twins more of a possibility. I'm leaning to boy based on placenta placement and my instinct. Plus I've only been nauseated like 2-3 times.

@bluestriped bee: definitely a huge shift, especially after such a long process, even more so for you! I hope you are enjoying your pregnancy! Motherhood is exhausting but those smiles are worth it. I remember wanting/hoping for twins, now I can't imagine even going through that as one is a lot to handle already! Kudos to all the twin mamas out there!

@PrettyExcited: congrats on the news! I found this board helpful while I was pregnant & didn't quite feel like I belonged in other groups given our lengthy arrival to pregnancy, though more of us were pregnant at the time.

Hi ladies. Mind if I hop on this thread? I'm very newly pregnant (4 weeks 5 days, betas are great) after my first round of IVF. It's been about 1.5 years of trying all together, including 3 failed IUIs. So... I am still a bit guarded/nervous as I wait for my 6.5 wk ultrasound, and am hesitant to post on any other pregnancy forums, but I have a feeling this group fully understands the worry and the wait that's involved once you do get your BFP after IF!

@lazypanda: thank you so much 12 weeks is on Thursday!!

@yogirunner: I so understand your anxiety. I kept thinking I would somehow jinx something by posting before the ultrasound. To be honest, I'm not sure the anxiety ever goes away when the stakes are so high. I keep thinking that I'll be able to relax at some point, but I doubt it!

I hope time passes quickly until your ultrasound!

@winter_wonder: yay for almost being done with the first trimester! Are you on progesterone suppositories? Cuz you get to be off of it at week 12 (at least my RE gave me the ok to stop then).

@YogiRunner: congratulations! now that I am on the other side, the anxiety did not go away for me & friends who did not deal with IF could not understand the apprehension which is why I loved this group. My anxiety did wane with each passing week. I think once I found out the gender, it felt more real. Especially when I got to see the actual head & limbs. It's an amazing feeling to see the heartbeat.

@winter_wonder: @lazypanda: Thank you! I go to a mind-body program, and the nurse practitioner I'm working with told me, "You're pregnant today, and that's a wonderful thing", but I'm so used to waiting (waiting for the cycle to start, to see if I'll respond to meds, to know how many were retrieved, fertilized, and made it to 5 days, then of course the dreaded 2ww, then betas...) that I still feel like I'm waiting for this to be confirmed as "real".

Trying to tell myself it's really real - sometimes those reminders come in the form of nausea, aching boobs and being extremely snippy with coworkers -- oops.

@lazypanda: I'm on injections and the last one is today!!! Wooooo!!!

@yogirunner: I like that advice from the np, it's a good reminder and mantra!
