A woman is coming on the Today Show with her ELEVEN boys ... 11 boys, because she kept trying for a girl. She just had a baby, and they'll reveal if it's a girl or boy. I hope for her womb's sake, it's a girl!
How many of you would keep trying for a boy or girl? ... What would be your limit?

If this is the same family they live by me, I saw it on the news the other day. I know what they had but won't tell

3 was our limit.
I had 2 girls going into this marriage and he didn't have any children of his own yet, We decided to have one together.
We said we wanted a boy because we already had two girls but we got another girl and honestly we couldn't be happier.
3 girls and we are done.

My mom saw it on her local news yesterday (and they said the gender!)
Her and my dad actually kept trying for a girl. I was #4. I don't know how much further they would have gone though, had I been a boy. Their marriage started crumbling not too long after.
ETA: We're still on the fence about a second but if we go for it two is the limit, regardless of gender.

Oh my goodness! I know a family who kept trying for a girl, and I think they ended up with 6 boys before they finally got a girl. And I have to say, their daughter was a huge Tomboy!
My dad really wanted a boy and the first 2 were girls. My mom agreed to try for 1 more, but if it was another girl, to stop. It was another girl. 
But that was her limit.
I want 3 max so I imagine that's where I'd stop, too.

I'm pretty sure the next one will be the last one, boy or girl. That will leave us with 2, which seems like plenty right now. Of course, DS is only 7 months old and still has yet to STTN so in my mind I can't imagine more kids. Haha. We will take it one at a time, regardless of gender.

I wouldn't try. After two the baby shop is done. I wouldn't want three of any sex and wouldn't dare risk it.

@Vegmama: wow! & for those of us at work, you know you need to follow up with whether it was a boy or a girl, right?
My limit is would be 3 or 4. My reality is going to be just one or maaaybe a second. I would be happy with another boy.

I wouldn't try for a certain sex. We have 2 boys and people ask all the time if we'll try for a girl. I tell them we may have a third, but not just to try for a girl. If I had 3 boys I would be thrilled!!

How sad for all those later boys. I bet they grow up with a complex about being a disappointment. If you are THAT obsessed with gender just adopt. Or heck do IVF with gender selection.

I can't imagine having eleven kids. We're still on the fence, as this baby is still baking, but I'm in the camp of two and through, while my husband is leaning more toward one and done.

I really wanted a girl, and am glad that the first was one so I don't care either way with #2. We will be done 2 even if we had two boys.
My SIL wants to have a 3rd cause she wants a girl and my brother is like yes, but what if it is another boy? They can't afford a third but she keeps talking about it, and he keeps saying no.

I just saw this on Yahoo and she had another boy. 12 is just too many. I mean I'd like to start with 1 but I don't care about the gender of our future kiddos so I wouldn't go to that extreme.

omg can you imagine 12 teenaged boys or 12 teenage girls (omg teen girls scare me worse!) ahhh. 12 kid is to many for me , regardless of their sex.

DH and i were just talking about this this past weekend. If we have 3 girls, we'll probably adopt a boy. Hopefully one of the next two I have is a boy, though!

We want two, but if our 2nd is a girl, I think we would risk having 3 for a boy-- but I can only imagine how insane it will be if we end up with 3 girls... three teenage daughters... yikes!

I know a lot of familys who purposefully had a lot of kids and I think that's fine - a dozen children doesn't freak me out... but I do think it's sad that the only reason they had so many was just in hopes of having a girl 
I only want 3 bio kids probably so I'd stop there regardless. Gender doesn't really matter to me.

I think my max would be 5 total for a boy so if this one is a girl I'd be open to 2 more.... We have friends currently gestating their 8th & have a number of other friends that have 4+ so the large family size has kind of become normal to me. We know far fewer 1 or 2 & done families that mini clans!

I saw them on the Today Show this morning and thought it was pretty nuts to keep rying for a girl. I can't even imagine what anyone does with 12 boys!

@Mrs. Pen: I agree - 12 is a lot of kids, but I know there are a ton of families who want LOTS of kids. Its sad that the only reason for it is to try for a girl though. Could you imagine being boy #12 and seeing that news story? Knowing that you weren't really *wanted*?

Uhg, that is nutso. My grandma did the same and after 6 boys she gave up. I don't care about gender that much..especially for 12 kids worth of trying. Nope nope nope.
