For my first I wanted flowers and slippers. I said he could get me slippers every year as a tradition but he got them for my birthday this year. I think he has gone over board this year though.

Well, I wanted/expected something, but not really anything expensive. I do think birthstone jewelry is a great gift for a first Mother's Day, but even that doesn't have to cost a lot. I know it's not real emerald, but whatever, it doesn't really make a difference to me, I still think it's really pretty!

DH got me a flowering plant. We just moved into a new house. He said that we can plant it in the yard as a reminder of my first Mother's Day. It was really sweet. Hopefully I don't kill it! We're getting lunch tomorrow and having a picnic at the nearby park too.

DH went pretty big for my first one. He bought me my DSLR.

To be fair, we went equally big for him and bought him this vintage guitar we found in a little shop in England for his first Father's Day.

My DH said that I'm not his mother, so he didn't do anything. He got his mom a gift.

I think for Fathers Day I'll buy him a clue!

@grizz: I would seriously stop doing all the cooking and laundry for him - because you aren't his mother

First Mother's Day I got flowers and dinner cooked for me by DH.

This year I'm hoping for flowers, which I told DH and we are having a family day and going to the zoo.

If much rather spend the day together as a family then get stuff. Also, DS made me a card at daycare and they gave all the moms a little Potts flower.

Aw that was nice! I don't think it hurts to make it more special but your DH knows you best. DH gave me a necklace last year and I'll always know it was my first

My first Mother's Day Dh got me an engraved photo frame. This year I know he got me jewelry and a point and shoot camera for my diaper bag.

My husband is going to wal mart right now... So my gift will probably not be so great. I hate that he leaves things to the last minute. really limits choices in our small town. I would be happy with anything meaningful and if he remembers a card. I always always always want a card and he never remembers that.

My 9wo gave me an excellent Mother's Day gift. We napped from 7pm-midnight. I am talking solid, I-had-no-idea-what-time-it-when-I-woke-up sleep. Then I nursed him in bed, changed him and he went right back to sleep in his crib.

I just took a nice long shower and am going to sleep with my cats til the baby wakes up again. (My husband went to sleep in the bed in the baby's room while the baby and I were sleeping in the master bedroom.)

My DH bought us an HD cam corder to record videos of baby last year to cover both Mother's Day and Father's Day. I was really glad, I didn't know what to get him for Father's Day so it solved the issue.

@grizz: I wonder if he is probably kidding. I bet you he has something amazing planned out for you tomorrow. Would it be like him to joke about it like that?

My husband got me a cute card from my son and a travel pack of toiletries from my favourite brand, because I'm travelling home to Canada (from Australia) alone with my son in a month and a bit, and he knows I'm terrified. He also made pancakes for me and my parents this morning, and is making dinner tonight! I'm a lucky lady!

I didn't get a first Mother's Day gift, A did make me a card with the help from DH though. We will see today but I'm not expecting anything.

DH and Hyla got me a Garmin. I didn't want him to spend a ton of money on me, but I really appreciate the thought behind it! especially since my other Garmin has been a dud since I first got it.

I got flowers and a canvas picture of LO with his birth stats for my desk at work. Love it!

For holidays like valentines day, Mother's Day, etc we are low key people. I really only want something thoughtful, like a card and maybe some chocolates. We only do gifts for Christmas and birthdays, which I like because it wold feel like we were constantly buying gifts otherwise!
