LO has spent the last 3 hours on my boob. He's sucking and swallowing and there's still milk leaking out when he pulls off. He probably stays on for about 15 mins each time. He will fuss after about 5 mins after unlatching until I nurse him again. I've heard of the 3 week growth spurt but he's only 2 weeks today. He has plenty of wet and poopy diapers.
Is this a growth spurt or comfort nursing? I need a shower. Lol

Um... I think the first 6 weeks were a "growth spurt" for C. She nursed all.the.time. for the first few weeks, especially at night. Pretty much from 5 pm until 8, at least, she would nurse. Comfort or actual feeding, I don't know. I just kept telling myself it was establishing my supply-- and I have never actually had any supply issues. Maybe they are related?
Either way, take advantage of this time when you can watch TV or do whatever while he nurses-- in a few months he will be so distractable that you have to sit practically in silence to keep him focused on the task at hand.

The short and frequent sessions are to establish your supply. Totally normal, stick with it and try to just sneak in a quick shower in one of those 5 minute breaks. You're doing great!

@Foodnerd81: hahaha, as I sit in a pitch black room trying to nurse my girl, I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said!
The first 8 weeks were one giant growth spurt for us, and she never left my boob, literally. I hate to say it, but that was my experience!

Totally agree with @Foodnerd81: We didn't have growth spurts...she was constantly at my boob! It's actually really good for establishing your supply, so I'd just let him nurse as long as he wants

Keep him on there, he knows what he's doing! I think my baby stayed on my boobs the first month. I showered when she would sleep or my husband reminded me. Lol.

Yeah, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 3 months. Seemed like all the time.

Yeah at least he lays still and focuses and I can watch tv or hellobee fora while!
