Welcome!! My DH and I have a similar age gap. Are you temping/charting? I read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and charted for 4-5 months before we started TTC. Then we used pre-seed once we started TTC and I got pregnant soon thereafter. I felt like because I had been charting I knew my cycles really well.

@kswts: I actually got pregnant our first cycle, but like I said I was very familiar with my cycles and other O signs like cervical mucus. My DH also has kids from a previous marriage so I knew his swimmers were ok. We BD every other day around O. I highly recommend temping and using Fertility Friend to chart!

Hi! Just seeing this now or would have responded before. My husband and I have a 16 year age difference and were 30 (me) and 46 (him) when I got pregnant. I asked my OB about whether or not his age would speed up our timelines if we needed any assistance and she said yes (she would refer us to a specialist after 6 months of TTC vs. 1 year) – only based on my husband’s age, not mine. She then reminded me several times that men don’t really have the same general issues with “advanced paternal age” as women do with advanced maternal age. My OB’s husband was in his 50’s when they conceived their daughters.

I got pregnant the first time we didn’t use protection. We haven’t had any issues with our age difference in our relationship, pre or post-baby. Good luck!!

@kswts: we (surprisingly) had no trouble. Our daughter was a honeymoon baby. I was 38 at the time. We had been anticipating a very different course, but were very fortunate. I have a blog post coming out soon that kind of recaps my journey over the last five years or so.
