I'm shopping ahead and curious what toddler size will get the longest wear. I know it depends on individual growth, but thought it would be fun to see anyway.
So far, what toddler size has your LO worn the longest?

DS has been wearing 3T for such a long time. From about 2.5-4, mostly everything that's a size 3T, fits.

DS was in 4T and 5T for a couple years. It depended on the brand which one he was in.
Now he's quickly growing through 6's, which is crazy!

We are just now in 2T but I feel like that will be a while. She's been in 2T shirts and PJs since almost 15-18 months.

I voted 2t only because I started them early on 2T to avoid the 18-24 month size.. But DD has so far been on track to move up a size every year and sizes up early. DS is looking like he could stay in 2t pants for a long time though.

DS has been in 18-24/2T for most of the last year (12-23 mo). He has some 2T outfits that were tighter on him and are now more baggy has his body shape changed. He also has 18-24 mo pants we hemmed back when he was closer to 12 mo and they still fit hemmed. His growth really slowed down this past year compared to the first 12 months.

@katiew92081: @T.H.O.U.: Wow, that's awesome! I'm looking forward to her actually wearing out clothes!
@T-Mom: I've also noticed that 18-24 is way too close in size to 2T and after getting a few from my mom, I've learned to skip that size altogether.
As for skipping sizes, has anyone else noticed that 2T and 3T seem pretty close in size as well. Maybe not in pants, but in shirts. I'm thinking about buying every other size from now on.

@Crumbs: Pants are so tricky! Unfortunately, once they get a certain age, they don't fit into the standard sizes, so belts are a must in this house. DS is tall and thin, but most pants seem to think that tall=husky, and that's just not the case. His legs grow the fastest, too, so he looks like Abe Lincoln at least every other month with certain pants.

DD has been in 24m/2T for the past year. She turned 3 yesterday and we are moving into 3T because the 2T pants and shirts are getting too short.

I voted 18-24 months based on the kids I have nannied for, most of whom are peanuts. I think 4/5 get a lot of use too but not 4T/5T, at least a handful of brands have an overlap of toddler sizes vs non toddler sizes and the toddler version has room for a diaper, they were all done with diapers long before size 4 so those sizes wouldn't have worked as well. I guess the flip side is if you potty train in the middle of one of those sizes you might get extra wear out of them!

@Cole: Ooh, I never even thought about the toddler sizes and room for a diaper! Great tip! Thank you!

I think there is a lot of variation in how large the sizes are, depending on the brand! LO has 18-24m stuff that still fits (he's 2.5), but the 2T and 3T shirts and pants are not all that baggy. The pant legs get much longer in the 2T/3T range, but the waist sizes don't seem to change much, so I just roll up the legs.

I voted 2t because she just started wearing 3t.... And there is 3 and 3T. I bought some 3 because I'm hoping it fits longer.

DD has been in 3T since last fall, and she'll probably continue to be in 3T through this summer, at least. I'm actually saving her winter clothes from this year for next year (instead of packing them into storage) because I think she'll still fit some of them at the en dof this year.

My son's wearing 3T now, he's 27 months old. I am not buying anything ahead at this point though, because I haven't seen steep enough discounts to justify the risk of them being too small next year.
