@youboots: if he got a new job a month after you moved into the new house, you could still stay there as long as you want, right? He wouldn't have to move for a new job, just would be able to easily? Do you have any deadlines for when you want to be in a long term home? Like for me, I wanted to be in at least our long term town by second grade or so for my older daughter, figuring I didn't really want to make her switch schools if we could help it.

I will say we put off moving and buying a house for a while due to uncertainty with dhs job, but finally had to just make the leap and buy. But we were in a too small condoand really had to get into a bigger place, where it sounds like you can stay in your current house as long as you want.

I would go look at the new house. If you absolutely love it, maybe you go for it. But in my experience most of the time I look at a place and think it's nice but not exactly right for us anyway.

I'd keep an open mind and go look at the house. You might get the answer you're looking for upon seeing it (you might automatically get the feeling of "yes this is the one" or "no way").

If you look at it, and it's still a possibility, I say go for it. Especially if you could afford the vacation home down the road!
