My friend had testing done (I'm not sure which test) on fetal DNA, and has her appointment to discuss on Monday. She got the results today though, which say abnormal fetal fraction. Does anyone know what that means? The doctor is out of town and she can't find much information.

She just talked to the nurse, and apparently it means they didn't have enough fetal dna to run the test, so they didn't do anything yet. They will run it again on Monday.

I'm glad she was able to talk to the nurse to get an explanation! "Abnormal fetal fraction" sounds much scarier than what the nurse described.

It's the fraction of total DNA that is from fetus (since most is from mom). Usually it's reported a decreased fetal fraction and they just need a new sample.
