@sweetooth: OMG those caramels sound good though!!

@Smurfette: Same here. I'll feel SO sick after but then it doesn't stop me the next time.

@MsLipGloss: I am coming over to your office.

@sweetooth: Agreed! I will post whether I have an uber successful day, or whether I started the day with *2* chocolate chunk cookies from Chick Fil A . . . which I may or may not have done yesterday.

@LindsayInNY: The Riesens didn't make it a whole day . . . I bought them this morning! I am throwing the rest away right now. Like emptying the bags into my office's kitchen garbage can . . . 'cause I have been known to pull a George Constanza and fish things back out of the trash if they are *on top*.

Yanno what the real rub is? People at work keep telling me how great I look (uhhhh, I still have 20 pounds to go . . . although I do realize that my shape is back, just a little bigger than it was before) which makes me realize that if I could stop sabotaging myself that I would look even better, feel less frumpy, and probably be less moody! *augh* If I could reach, I would totally kick mahselfs in the ass right now.

@LindsayInNY: they are SO good! This bag should last someone a while...but I bought them on Tuesday and they are almost gone. http://www.traderjoes.com/fearless-flyer/article.asp?article_id=1125

@Smurfette: The door is always open! I have enough candy for 5 people, let alone just 2.

@MsLipGloss: YUP. I wanted to be in peak shape since we're TTC and I'm far from it. I look thin but I feel so out of shape and the 5 lbs. I want to lose? Yeah, the candy doesn't help it. I can only imagine how I'd look if I stopped the candy!

@MsLipGloss: Let's all kick each other in the a** and empty our candy into the trash. I'm seriously going to go do this right now. And like you, actually empty out the bags.

I bet you do look great, but there's something to be said for FEELING great too. And mainlining the big ol' bags of candy is bound to make us all feel like crap. Tell that to sweetooth from LAST week who polished off a bag of http://www.candyblog.net/blog/item/heath_pieces

@LindsayInNY: Although I was under 130 for our wedding, I was 135 when I got knocked up, which is a really great weight for me. I am so ready to get back down there . . . to the land where my thighs don't touch and where I don't wake up in a cold sweat dreaming about skinny jeans. Limited sugar is the difference between my having a 4 or a 6 pack, and my skin is glow-ier when I limit sugar. Which just makes me wonder WTF my problem is!

I have a slightly different problem that I need help with...I *hate* sweets and actually dislike chocolates and am allergic to nuts but have the hugest weakness for Belgian chocolate seashells. Yes, just this one thing. I get so triggered when I taste one that I can't stop myself! I kid you not, I'm currently taking megadoses of antihistamines (Claritin, Benadryl, and Pepcid) so I can eat these. Seriously my legs are covered in bug bites that are flaring up into hives whenever I eat a seashell but I can't help myself...and normally I wouldn't even touch chocolate and definitely not anything containing tree nuts. This is bad.

@MsLipGloss: Hello. My name is Sweetooth and I am addicted to candy. The first step I took towards having less candy in my life is throwing these in the trash just now http://www.candyblog.net/blog/item/starburst_minis

They didn't taste that great. And I found myself just mindlessly shoving them in my mouth.

@MsLipGloss: When I was eating "clean" and low-sugar, my skin was great! No deep zits (I'm fairly certain caused my sugar), no lower belly pooch. I would like to lose the 5+ lbs. or even just tone up. All the candy/sugar has rested in my love handles/lower stomach and it's not cute! You think that would be enough to stop eating it in such quantities but noooo...

@spaniellove: I have to LOL but not at this! Those are good... Is there anything similar tasting you could try?

@sweetooth: Thing is, it never really tastes that great... It's good but not "OMG to die for" or anything!

  14. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@sweetooth: @LindsayInNY: I actually find the sugar to be too much at some point, yet I mindlessly keep eating until the last piece is consumed. You're so right . . . it really doesn't taste that great, and I feel like crap before, during, and afterward!

  15. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@MsLipGloss: So impressed you just threw it all out. I couldn't have done it.

@LindsayInNY: This is not even remotely the same taste, but I've been needing to make more peach-avocado salsa...it might be a substitute for the sweet-salty-creamy thing? There's really no substitute for chocolate+hazelnuts!

@MsLipGloss: I love it! I didn't take a before because I had to approach this like removing a band-aid. I just ripped open the bags and emptied them out! Here's proof!

This thread really makes we want to go to the convenience store on the corner and get some candy! My favorites are Red Vines, gummy bears, chocolate + peanut butter anything and SOUR!

    @MsLipGloss: @sweetooth: You guys rock!

I'm here to help support you ladies! I need to cut back on sweets. I had chocolate chips in my breakfast this morning. Just take it hour by hour and day by day. Eventually the sugar cravings will subside.

The one time in my life that I cut back on sweets drastically, I got down to my lowest weight. It was my last year of college and first year out of college right before my wedding. I look back on my honeymoon pics and think wow! I was so thin and had no belly fat. If I could only get back to that....

@MsLipGloss: They are new - I'm all about hunting down the new candy. I make it my job to try all new candy - it's my duty as a sweet tooth. I bought them when I also found the Heath Pieces. I will say the Starburst minis, unwrapped, just do not satisfy like a regular wrapped Starburst. But the Heath Pieces? I woke up in the morning looking forward to my first handful the 3 days they lasted. They were like having little Heath Bars inside of an M&M. SO good!

@sweetooth: Trader Joe's is so bad for me! I don't go there often but I can't resist the dark chocolate covered caramels. I think it's best to just avoid the store or at least the candy aisle

@fussygal: Oh red vines! I miss red vines! I feel like they were more readily available when I lived on the west coast.

@mrskc: Our TJ is small and the candy is scattered throughout - above the freezer bins, for example! So hard to avoid!!

  30. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

Candy doesn't last long enough in my desk drawer so believe it or not, I have none to get rid of! Because I ate it all yesterday before starting this point... LOL!

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@mrskc: Awww - so glad you're joining us! Thanks for the support! And you're right . . . I shouldn't think of this in manageable terms, i.e., one hour, one meal, one day at a time. No regret and move on!

I remember looking ridonc for my honeymoon too . . . I have never wanted to be naked more in my entire life! I am sure my DH would love for me to stop trying to hide behind towels and baggy sweats!

  32. sweetooth

@mrskc: Chocolate chips in your breakfast? As in, chocolate chip cookies for breakfast? I feel guilty about my candy consumption with the little life I'm growing inside of me right now. I hope he grows up with his dad's approach to candy consumption. Just a handful here and there.

I need to replace candy with fruit, or something. It's just not good for my pregnant body.

  33. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@LindsayInNY: ours is the same. Most of it is above the freezer section too. I will just have to not buy any freezer food. Or send DH down that aisle.

I love sugar! This box of cap n crunch undid me today! I can't buy it anymore.

  35. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@LindsayInNY: Confession: I bought all of that this morning. And I had eaten some from all of the bags, but had only finished the bag of Riesens. This thread was perfectly timed for a *gentle* intervention!

@sweetooth: I put in chocolate chips and peanut butter in my oatmeal. It's amazing. I used to only allow it on weekends, but I've been doing it everyday lately.

  37. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@sweetooth: That's my biggest worry - continuing like this whenever I get pregnant.

@mrskc: If I shop with DH, it's easier to avoid since he won't allow it! Alone is anyone's guess...

  38. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@mrskc: Our TJ candy is spread out down the frozen goods aisle. So maybe if I just wear a ball cap to go shop there I can try to block out the view of all of the goodies...

@LindsayInNY: Sounds like our Trader Joe's are laid out very similarly! I can believe that you have no candy to get rid of (normally I don't either) - BUT - make a promise to yourself that you won't replenish your stash today!

  39. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@mrskc: The dark chocolate covered caramels are the single reason why I don't shop at TJs anymore. Seriously. I used to live 5 minutes from one. In just that little amount of time, I could eat half a container of them!

@LindsayInNY: I was hoping pregnancy would change my habits. It did for the first trimester, the thought of candy repulsed me. But the second trimester has reintroduced sweets. Habits are hard to break...
