@LindsayInNY: There is a Chickfila at NYU. I only know this because DH has a chickfila problem. He was on a client in Hoboken for 3 months and had to have a Chickfila hit to make it through. LOL.

@LindsayInNY: Get thee to a Chick Fil A lady! The chicken is good, the buns/bread is good, waffles fries, cookies, lemonade . . . ohemgee!

@littlek: A chocolate/candy bar?! >.< We don't have that, but we do have a glass-front refrigerator on every floor chock a block full of almost every Coke product you can think of! Caffeine for productivity!

@sweetooth: Even when I've come across Chickfila's, I've never thought to stop... Now, next time I do, I'm going to be tempted to try a cookie

@littlek: I would be a thousand pounds if there was a chocolate/candy shelf at work... No self control over here!!

@littlek: the chicken minis . . . the buns are heavenly! Although mine aren't when I eat too many too often. And I am also a total stress eater . . . I have several big deadlines all in the next week and my stomach is like FEED MEH SEYMOUR FEED MEH!

@littlek: Well hopefully there are nap rooms too to allow the sugar crashers to sleep it off

@littlek: @MsLipGloss: WHY did you have to bring up the chicken minis...WHY?! At least for me the closest Chick-fil-A has parking that is a total pain. Makes it a little easier to resist.

What are some good alternatives to stress eating...I am totally blanking. Because I could use some help for the next two weeks.

@LindsayInNY: Stay strong! Resist the Chick-fil-A!

@LindsayInNY: I've never had chickfila either! There's one in my city too, but I never think to go there. I don't eat a lot of fast food though.

@MsLipGloss: Now I must try a chickfila cookie! Dang you. I thought we we're supposed to be helping each other keep away from the sweets?

@littlek: OMG! a candy shelf at work? We have a small candy dish up at the front of the office, but I don't go up there much, so I'm not tempted.

@sweetooth: I think it's important to recognize your triggers (which it seems you have) and to redirect yourself when you get a craving. Maybe take a walk? or have healthy snacks handy. Maybe sip some tea?

  13. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

I think if I could drink right now, it would help me to avoid the candy. Why is family so stressful? I wish I was better at handling the stress of family visits. But seriously, what I wouldn't give for an ice cold beer and a nice gin and tonic right now. Instead, it's a handful of m&m's to get me through.

    bananas / 9229 posts

@sweetooth: Oh man... Family, I hear ya!

I got a coupon for Mars/Hershey at CVS day so it would only be 25cents. I saw Candy Corn M&Ms and gave in. But that's all I bought so I still consider it a win!

  15. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@LindsayInNY: Once candy corn and other halloween candy make their appearance on the shelves I will be weak in the knees. How were the Candy Corn M& M's? I have a weakness for trying new kinds of candy too.

So it's confession time for me. I had another bag of spice drops. And I only managed to make it last for 2 days this time. I walked right into CVS and purchased a bag of Lays chips and Spice Drops, as if I was programmed to do so.

I did avoid purchasing any tasty treats at Trader Joe's this morning. And hope that I can satisfy my sweet cravings with some almond butter on graham crackers. Grapes are helping too.

@mrskc: My walks and water drinking definitely help work through it. But sometimes I just can't help myself! I have definitely identified my triggers though. Thanks

@sweetooth: I'm the same when it comes to new/limited edition candies! Definitely try the candy corn M&Ms if you come across them though. WELL WORTH IT! They're a different sort of sweet tasting. Not gonna lie, my sweet cravings aren't usually satisfied by anything else (fruit, etc.). Maybe it's just mental? But, hey, that bag of spice drops wouldn't have lasted even a day for me! So two days is a good

As for me, I started CrossFit last week. The beginner course included a month of unlimited classes so I've been going as often as I can. That's definitely helping the sweet tooth too! I caved and had a small bag of Hot Tamales yesterday. But only one bag and it was small so I consider that a win!

  17. mrskc

ok since it's confession time. I went to Rite Aid yesterday on my lunch and bought two bags of Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares and a little bag of Reese's minis. I only ate a couple of squares yesterday and took one of the bags home, but then finished them all on my lunch break. I think chocolate in my desk is a bad idea for me.

I was doing so well. But then I ran out of every single sweet at my house and the cravings took hold of me this week. Maybe just a moderate amount everyday is better? I did manage to survive not buying a single treat at Trader Joe's over the weekend. Seriously, why is sugar so addictive?

@sweetooth: is your family gone yet? high five for avoiding treats at TJ's!!!

@lindsayinny, if you eat candy before CF, you'll feel like shit and probably be cured of it, LOLZ. A large portion of the time, I think, "no, that'll make me feel like ass later"

my favorite trader joe's candy is the kettle cooked jellies. cannot buy

  19. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@blackbird: Oh god, I wouldn't even try that! I'd be puking all over, guaranteed! Even eating candy without CF and I usually feel like ass later. Too much gives me heartburn almost.

Kettle cooked jellies?! What are those??

Just tried the Cookies and Cream Special K Pastry Crisps. The other new flavor, Chocolately Caramel, is really good! This one is decent. The "cream" filling is on the thick side so the crisp doesn't break well. Otherwise both are good and help curb the sweet tooth!

  21. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

How's everyone been doing?! Turns out some exercise curbs the sweet tooth for me. Imagine that! Now if only the scale would show some results...

  22. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@LindsayInNY: I was just about to check in with my fellow sugary sweet friends Glad to hear that the exercise is doing the trick for you. It's a fantastic thing for your body and mind.

I started the week off learning that I had passed my glucose test. So you know how I celebrated? A bag of spice drops. Yeah, I know - I'm weak. I think I should just rename myself to "BagOSpiceDrops"

Since then though, I've been pretty good. I did buy some of those Special K cookie bars you mentioned @LindsayInNY, they definitely hit the spot when I need something sweet.

  23. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@mrskc: Yeah, having chocolate anywhere close to my work desk is a bad idea. I would eat it mindlessly. I think a moderate amount each day is ok. A little square of dark chocolate each day shouldn't be harmful, right? We all have to have our vices.

My family is still here - but it's just my mom now. My sister had her little baby girl last week and now my mom is at my sister's house. It helps me control my candy binging issues when she's not staying in my house

@sweetooth: Funny thing is, I bought a small bag of Hot Tamales on my way to the doctor yesterday, LOL! Oh well. I'm not in Court as often lately and that's usually my candy downside - I buy it for the train ride back. So exercising helps a bit but also just being removed from the temptation does (avoiding drugstores, etc.). The Special K bars are good - also, there's a Fiber Plus one that's coconut and caramel flavor. It tastes like Samoa/Caramel Delight Girl Scout cookies! There's something similar that's 120 calorie brownies too (I think it's Special K?) which is good!

@LindsayInNY: that's awesome exercise is helping.

@sweetooth: I'm glad your mom is out of your house.

um, yeah so I haven't been doing well. I bought chocolate on my lunch break and had it my desk even though I know I don't do well with that. Then we bought some choc chip cookies at the grocery store. Oh and we got a pumpkin pie from Costco. Man I was doing good for a couple of weeks and now I'm back to my old ways. I'm trying again to get it under control. I just looooove dessert.

  26. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@LindsayInNY: Yeah, I do find if I try not to frequent the drug stores it does help my consumption. Glad to hear your schedule is working in your favor I've had a Fiber One brownie that's low calorie and delicious!

@mrskc: I think it's hard to avoid the intake, for sure. But a little each day can't hurt, right? Do you think there's a reason you keep going for the chocolate on your lunch break? Is your lunch boring and you need to pack yourself a cookie? I love dessert too...it's tough!

I have REALLY fallen down on this. I even thought of you all on this thread when the butterscotch candies at Trader Joe's jumped into my shopping cart last week and disappeared in my tummy the next day.

@LindsayInNY: How has CrossFit been going?

  29. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@sweetooth: BUT, aren't they hard candies?! Those are much better than other chewy candies!! (I'm trying, LOL!) CrossFit is going really well! I've been going twice a week. It's the days that I don't go and am out of the office in the morning that the candy urges come (usually leaving Court to the office).

@LindsayInNY: Nope. They are delicious, soft, salty and sweet yummies http://www.traderjoes.com/fearless-flyer/article.asp?article_id=1125 Glad to hear CrossFit is going well! I have a huge weakness with candy right now and the ultimate candy holiday around the corner - Halloween!

@autumnlove: I've already been through 2 bags of Brach's candy corn. I will not let myself buy any more. I will TRY not to let myself buy any more Who am I kidding, I will probably buy at least one more bag before the end of the month!

I've been thinking of you ladies! I fell off the wagon for awhile. I was eating so much sweets and too much candy corn! I joined WW yesterday to get a handle on it all. At least I know with WW I can treat myself. I have much better self control limiting when I have to keep track of my points for the day.

@sweetooth: @LindsayInNY: sugar addiction is so hard! Did you guys read the sugar article someone posted recently? It's made me really want to cut back.

  33. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@autumnlove: @sweetooth: Oh man, candy corn is the devil!! I can't control myself and eat way too much and then feel sick. So I only buy the small bags knowing I'll eat it all!

@mrskc: I started using MyFitnessPal again. It's a love-hate relationship since it always gives me 1,200 calories unless I work out (aka earn more). But I'm a bit more mindful of what I'm eating and how much so I suppose that's a start? I don't remember the sugar article?

@LindsayInNY: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/a-very-interesting-article-about-sugar#post-1130040 Here is the post about it. Basically sugar is really bad for our bodies, which I already knew but sometimes reading stuff like this motivates me to eat better.

  35. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@mrskc: I think I missed that sugar article. Do you have the link? It's great that you feel like WW will help you keep tabs on things while still letting you treat yourself. I think that's key - not to deprive yourself.

@LindsayInNY: I wish I could say that I bought the smaller bags...I've also indulged in the gummy pumpkins. I thought I could be strong and keep them for decoration - but I ate them all. 2 bags. Yikes. This is a good confessional for me

I blame the Williams & Sonoma catalog for my purchase of the gummy pumpkins. Look at how cool these candies look!
    http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/williams-sonoma-halloween-candies/

I found them for a lot cheaper at CVS. Stay away from all drugstores before Halloween.

@sweetooth: I think we posted at the same time. See post above for link. Those pumpkins are cute! I'm guilty of buying a bag of candy corn and peanuts for the jar in my kitchen for "decoration". I've already refilled it once and it's empty again with more candy corn and peanuts waiting in the cupboard.

How are you all doing with the Halloween candy? I bought a few bags to hand out last Friday and I put it away in a high kitchen cabinet. Well, I asked my husband to get it on Monday night just for a few pieces. And now I can't stop. And this home renovation I'm working through right now at almost 36 weeks pregnant, is driving me to the candy. Since I can't drink to handle the stress, I'm mainlining the candy. This kid is going to come out looking like a fun size Snickers bar with Laffy Taffy for his hands and Starburst for his feet.
