Ah! I love this thread. I've been eyeing the Enchanted Forest one and Secret Garden on amazon... I seriously wish I had them right now, this week is stressing me out. Long ago, a therapist suggested coloring as a way to quiet my mind and I miss doing it!

@psw27: I ended up printing off a couple pages from google. They aren't great quality, obviously, but it'll do the trick in a pinch.

  8. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@psw27: Get enchanted forest, seriously! It's only $9 and it has over 80 pages! I'm only on my third page and it has provided over 15 hours of entertainment.

My daughter has been asking me to color a lot recently, and it is very relaxing! I don't know that I want an entire coloring book, but maybe for a road trip or something.

I've been using them as a form of de-stressing during my IF appts. Careful; it's addictive!!

    @.twist.: you'll love it!!

I have Secret Garden too, but only just received it for my birthday & haven't started yet.

I just realized that I have Magic Garden and not Secret Garden.. The pages are pretty thick, so I'm hoping marker won't bleed through! The pictures done with marker look so much bolder.

This thread totally inspired me! Bought the Animal Kingdom one and some colored pencils from Amazon. I have a trip to DHs family next week and think this will be a great distraction

Yes, I bought the Color me Happy coloring book on a whim at Target one night, and I really enjoy it! I'd like to find some more pigmented colored pencils, or maybe I should try markers!

I've been inspired too. I've been eyeing the Enchanted Forest book for awhile and this thread finally got me to order it. Now I just need to find my colored pencils. I have a nice set from either highschool or college that I haven't used in years.

I finally took the plunge and got enchanted forest today.

Now I just have to get over my anxiety about ruining it when I colour.

ETA: so I'm trying it out and SO walks by, "wait a minute, you bought that for YOU?"
really? You thought I bought this for the 3 year old?

  24. Bao

I love the idea of watercolor pencils! So far I have Secret Garden and Fantastic Cities. I usually love the flora/fauna books, but I'm really digging the architectural mandalas and cityscapes of Fantastic Cities!

I bought one a few months ago and I really like it! Its a mandela one though so I'm getting a little bored of them all being so similar. I think I need to get another.

@Bao: that looks amazing! I definitely need to pick up some markers.

  33. MamaG

@Bao: Do you find yourself using one type of marker more than the other? Or do you use the "fine" for the bigger areas? I only have ultra fine style markers.

  34. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@MamaG: I use 0.3mm and 1.0mm markers, I would say I use them both equally but the 0.3 are definitely a must with the book I have.

How have I never heard of this ?!? This sounds amazing! I used to color all the time at work, but can't at my new job and have been missing it.

Michaels had the Enchanted Forest book (along with many others) when I was there today. And they have a 40% off a regular priced item AND 40% off of colored pencil/marker coupons on their website.

I was there specifically looking for the markers @Bao posted earlier, but they only had the 10ct ultra fine (.3mm).

I love this! You've all inspired me to order some supplies. I stopped at walmart to pick up cheapo markers and colored pencils, and printed off a few pages, but the cheap stuff doesn't work well. I ordered the color me calm book, and the enchanted forest (although it's temporarily out of stock, sad!) and the super fine pens. I can't wait to get started! This will be a super distraction from my TTC/IF obsession.

I coloured one today (it's terrible) and my fingers are SO sore! I haven't held a pencil for that long in years. Too funny.

    @Bao: I love this one:

    http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Style-Coloring-Book-Cohen/dp/1576876632/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1440158340&sr=8-25&keywords=adult+coloring+books+fashion

Does anyone use gel pens? When I browse for coloring books on amazon, I keep getting these as a suggestion. I currently use colored pencils just because I had them laying around, but am curious about ink.
