Hellobee Boards

We haven't done one yet but I think this year he'll really be into it so I've been mentally planning out how I want to handle it. My mom always did chocolate advent calendars where you'd open the door each day and there would be a tiny chocolate, but I'd like to do something a little different. I'm thinking of doing a mix of books/activites/"stuff". For activites I'm thinking we could do a family movie night, ice cream sundae night, drive around and look at Christmas decorations, things that are easy and cheap. And then I might do a few books and then the rest would be just random small stuff that I haven't determined yet I've never heard of the Lego ones, I'm going to have to look into that!

That is so cute and SO much easier than trying to think of 24 ideas on your own, lol

My son has one, he's 5 and we've never used it, lol. I was thinking of using it this year...it is 25 hand knitted hats, mittens and stockings made by my MIL. The thing is what to fill it with that isn't expensive or junky. Experiences are a good idea, but selfishly, I don't have time to execute those during the week.

We're not religious so we don't but I saw a cute burlap banner advent calendar on Instagram a few days ago. I think the brand was Mud Pie.

@looch: I just do the experiences on the weekend. Go see Santa, Christmas dance recital, cookie decorating, etc.

@Smurfette: Yeah, the problem is that my son won't be accepting of that. If during the week he gets things, and on the weekend he gets a slip of paper, he'll be all like wtf is this.
It's all or nothing with my kid, lol.

I wish I had done ornaments on a small tree, that would still be an option this year...

@looch: Oh the tree idea is good. She has a small one in her room and I need more ornaments for her.
And I hear you, she would get upset when she opened one and it didn't have a Hershey kiss in it. Would want to open another.

We are doing the book calendar. I bought several used and started collecting while I was pregnant. Instead of wrapping they have a sticker with the date. I will cycle out the board books when she's older. It's nice I can reuse them year after year and now have many classic books.
