Hubs and I are going to a wedding tonight and I have no idea what to wear. I have a knee-length teal satin dress, a tea-length purple jersey dress, or a knee length black dress with an ivory top that has black swirls on the bodice. I have no idea what the wedding colors are, but the teal dress isn't especially bridesmaids-y so that shouldn't be a problem.
Any advice that you can give without pics?

I usually wear something like black or gray because I'm always afraid I will look like a bridesmaid by accident. Once I wore a yellow dress and all of the bridesmaids were wearing the same shade of yellow. Everyone kept asking me if I was a bridesmaid. I was horrified!

@banana: I don't own a black or grey dress.
It would be awkward for people to think I was part of the party especially since I don't know that bride or groom well at all.

I would probably go with the black/white option - always a classic chic color combo.

I found a dress that I bought 5 years ago, and only wore once, in the back of my closet and it worked perfectly! Thanks for the advice though.

Wear the one you feel prettiest in. I've never heard of anyone being offended if people wore the same color as the bridesmaids.
