My son (1 week old) has had problems eating enough ever since he was born. He dozes off mid-feeding and sleeps through feedings too. To combat this: we've found ways to wake him up every 2-3h and we're trying all kinds of ways to keep him awake during feedings (bottles are OK, but breast puts him right to sleep).
What makes things 10X worse is that he has acid reflux (according to ped). He spits up much of what he ate.
The issue that scares me pants off is his spitting up at night while he's asleep. I have caught it a couple of times where he'll be asleep and he will start making a gaggy face and then throw up his milk and stay asleep. I quickly wake him up. But, I am so scared he will gag in his sleep.
I started letting him sleep propper up in his boppy last night. What do you think of this? Do you have any other suggestions?
side info:
all he drinks is breastmilk (sometimes through bottle)
he takes acid reflux medicine
we burp him religiously, he uses anti-colic bottles, and we feed him at an incline so he's never eating on his back.
