We have just started talking about this, I think I would like to be buried but no open casket. I dislike having to look at the body and I don't want people looking at mine. And I prefer to remember them alive, not waxy/doll like. I also like celebrations of life over traditional funerals, I think this is the way to go.

No viewing and creamated. Whatever is easiest for my family.

I'm pretty indifferent. I always figured cremation because it's simple. However, DH insists we both get buried, so sure.

I'd rather not have a viewing, but if my loved ones want it that's fine.

I would either like to be cremated and buried, or turned into a diamond (or a few).

@AmandaB8: How do you turn into a diamond?!

Cremated & a celebration of life service. It's so much cheaper! Hate to put that burden on my family.

Don't care. I'm not my body and it doesn't matter to me what happens once I'm gone. I think funerals etc are really for the living-- whatever will make them feel best/get closure is fine with me. (Which is what I told my husband).

ETA: My husband wants to be cremated and scattered somewhere. He doesn't like the idea of having a physical landmark of his body like a gravestone or urn.

@Mamaof2: I appreciate you sharing what you did for your grandmother. When my dad passed he didn't really want a traditional viewing and service but none of us could picture our other options. Shortly thereafter a family friend elected not to have a service of any type and it was hard for his family because they needed something but wanted to honor his wishes. A lunch seems like a great compromise because I do think some sort of coming together of loved ones is an important part of the process.

My husband has a strong preference to be cremated and I am ambivalent so I assume we will both be cremated.

I have legitimately NEVER thought about this.

Cremation. Happy memorial service with funny stories about me, food, and booze. =)

Cremated, with a celebration of life instead of a funeral. No big fuss. Lots of food and alcohol. Lol

@Mamaof2: I really want a natural burial.... Literally dead body just left in a field. That or cremated. The idea of having an autopsy or embalmed freaks me out.

Also a celebration of life too... I went to one last year, and it was so beautiful. Everyone in bright colors, bright flowers, happy music. Def the way to go.

Cremated, no viewing, celebratory service, and ashes scattered in the ocean. I'm Catholic, and apparently scattering ashes isn't allowed, though. I just don't like the thought of being buried or interred. Guess I have to give more thought to that part.

My husband wants to be buried, not cremated, with a viewing and full funeral. We are complete opposites with this stuff!
