There is a festival in my city this weekend that has a ferris wheel. How old or tall do you think a kid should be in order to ride a ferris wheel? DS is 18 months and far too squirmy to ride it, but I'm just wondering when would be appropriate to go on one with him.

For the one at Navy Pier, there isn't a height requirement. But they have plexiglass so they are pretty contained.

We were just on the Big Wheel and I think it was a minimum of 38 inches. DD is 4 and 42 inches so we were able to go on.

The only one we've had the opportunity to go on since L was born was the one at Navy Pier, and like @T.H.O.U. said, it is very contained and we had no problems - he loved it! Both L and the little girl with us were 13 months old. L is pretty calm but she was standing backwards on the bench and pounding on the plexiglass happily screeching/babbling the whole time. It was totally safe.

The only one we've been on with LO didn't have a height requirement. He was 18 months at the time and my DH wore him in the ergo while we rode.

@lamariniere: For some reason I didn't even think of wearing him on it. I'll bring the ergo just in case!
@T.H.O.U.: @wonderstruck: That's so neat that the Navy Pier ferris wheel is enclosed. Makes squirminess not matter so much. I think this ferris wheel has open gondolas.
