What are your favorite toys for your lo to play with on the airplane? I'd prefer to not use our phones as entertainment so I'm hoping we can come up with some fun small things to play with/do.

Same as car toys! Color wonder, a pencil and paper pad, flash cards (M is really like same but different ones I got from Target dollar spot),

I really like magnetic play sets. I found something like this in a bookstore:
Also sticker books. And a green toys pizza set. I just put all the pieces in a ziplock bag and we "made" pizza!

@looch: Yes to magnetic play sets! They have some great dress-up "paper" doll ones - both regular people, plus like Sleeping Beauty/Cinderella/Snow White ones, and fairy ones.
They also have magnetic scenes. LO has and really likes an Ariel one and a fairies one. Comes with like 100 little pieces, so lots of play, and everything goes back into the tin.
Coloring and stickers work well for us too, although we also let LO watch movies.

We bought 2 of these for our trip this summer and both kids liked them!

@yoursilverlining: @looch: I just looked into those magnetic play sets. Genius. They even have a Curious George one. Thank you SO much!!
@lamariniere: she loves those. She only has one that she has used a ton so I bet a new one would be a big hit. Thank you!
@regberadaisy: love Target's one spot. We found lacing cards there!

DD was obsessed with these velvet coloring books:

Those squishy toys in a plastic tub (Mashems) and a few individually wrapped dinosaurs were also a hit (I forget the name, but they were in the clearance rack). Whenever she fussed, I'd magically found another surprise for her

We had good success with these sticky mosaics:

You can fit the cards and stickers into a gallon ziploc bag and bring another little bag for the trash from the backings.

Water wow by Melissa and Doug. Fill the pen with water and paint with it! And once they dry, you can use them over and over!

the vinyl sticker books. Man, E loves them. Although, at 2.5, I'm sure she could just watch those Fisher Price videos all day and be happy as a clam

@blackbird: Which sticker books?
@SugarplumsMom: thanks I got one of those, we'll see how it goes!
@yoursilverlining: @looch: We got the magnetic play set this weekend. It's fantastic! I put the magnets in a tin we can keep with the play set tin. I think she will really love it. Thanks for the suggestion!
