Our little C has his first cold! He developed a cough earlier in the week and has gotten progressively more congested and "snotty." We have actually taken two trips to the pediatrician already-- one last Friday when I was concerned this was starting and one again yesterday when the cough got worse. The pediatrician, who I like and trust completely, diagnosed it as bronchiolitis and said that he will be fine, but that this may last for 5-7 days. He did not feel that any medication was in order.

Fast forward to last night when my mother-in-law was staying with us. She was extremely concerned about LO's health and kept telling me to bring him back to the dr today. I was not sure that was the right thing to do (since I don't want it to appear that I don't trust the doctor) but she kept saying that "something wasn't right" and that I should have the baby checked again. I have some issues with my mil but that's besides the point!

I took LO to his babysitter this morning as usual and have been checking in frequently. The cough seems to be getting worse and she said he's a bit fussier than usual. I decided to call the doctor again and he said that he's be happy to check the baby out again, but I also got the sense that he was saying "lady, I told you yesterday that this would happen!" and that he probably thinks I'm just a pain in the butt first time parent.

I made an appointment for later this afternoon and am just concerned (in addition to my LO's health, of course!) that the pediatrician thinks I am nuts. I don't want it to come across that I am undermining his expertise, but I just want to make sure my baby is OK!

Would you have called back and made another appointment?
