@rachiecakes: Haha! One of the candidates we looked up had a profile pic on Facebook of her giving the camera the middle finger. Classy!

I've been in several situations like this as an interviewer. We also had a strange office where I sat in the front (we didn't have/need redeptionists). So, they would come VERY early, and then I would keep working in front of them...so awkward. One woman (a knitter) had on an outfit that looked like she knit it herself! HUGE red flag! Interviewing was quite enjoyable, and we had a lot of fun reading applications and resumes. Some people just don't get what professional means.

@highwire: One of my best employees referred his friend for a position a few years ago. He was a recent college grad, played baseball in college, was super charismatic and interviewed well. I told my boss I wanted to hire him so I asked him to sign off on it. The next day my boss sent me a link to the guy's public Myspace profile that featured a lovely picture of him SMOKING A JOINT in his cap and gown. We did not hire him!

@rachiecakes: LOL!! I don't understand why people don't realize they can be googled! Oh boy..

I also felt sorry for this girl but at the same time wondering what in the WORLD is going through her head. I arrive super early everywhere I go, but I wait in my car or find a store/restaurant to chill in until closer to the time!

I absolutely hate it when people show up that early! I usually wait in the car until 10 minutes before my interview. Yeesh.

I met the weirdest people when i did high volume recruiting a while back. One guy asked how flexible the manager was in giving time off...he had to go for physiotherapy sessions bc he got shot in a club. Ummm, i didnt ask so why tell me this??

Aww, this thread makes me so sad! I'm looking for work and have edited my resumes, showed up on time, dressed appropriately, have a clean internet presence, and am professional and still - nothing! It makes me wonder what about me is making other people think I'm weird.

@autumnlove: That's funny, I'm moving to CA next week too, and i am SUPER nervous about the traffic. I've had a couple interviews there too where i ended up at the office super early, but then i sat in my car with the windows down while i waited...Poor lady. the knitting did not help her case at all....

Her reasoning makes sense because the traffic can be scary and it's too hot this week to sit in her car. At least she wasn't a pest, but if she isn't right for the job she just isn't right.

@jedeve: Ditto this! Granted I've only been on a couple of interviews for pretty specialized positions ... but SIGH.
