We have a chromecast. It's like $35 and does the same thing.

We already have Apple TV and Roku and never use either. Definitely don't need another device.

Yeah, that looks almost exactly like a Chromecast, or Apple TV.
We have Chromecast AND a Smart TV, which is a waste.
If it offered discounted membership prices to Amazon/Netflix/Hulu, etc - THAT would be worth it!!

Yeah it's essentially competition for stuff already out there. If I was going to buy one of these things, I'd consider Amazon's too.

We already have an apple tv (that we use a lot) and a roku that we never do. Our blu ray player also has an amazon app.. so, no need for this thing. I suppose if DH hadn't already bought so many movies, etc on iTunes it would be worth considering just being a part of the amazon ecosystem.

We have Roku and a computer hooked up to our main TV. Why buy more of the same.

I just saw this this morning on my Amazon homepage. I forwarded it to Hubs. I think once we move, this is what we'll be buying. From everything I've read, getting the Prime content to stream on your Chromecast requires a major workaround. And you can stream Showtime on it, which you can't do with some of the other units. Plus, higher processing speed. And the voice control.
We've been talking about going the Roku or Chromecast route for a few months, but haven't bitten the bullet yet because of various things, but decided that once we move we'll make a decision. I think the FireTV just made it for us.
