I think so, but I buy a lot from Amazon, and the $79 is definitely more than covered by all the free shipping I get. I like the streaming stuff, too.

My free trial just ended this month, too ... Soooo sad. I personally think the benefits are worth it so I'll probaby renew and pay...

It is to me - I buy stuff from Amazon a lot, and like @FutureMrsMcK said, you can stream movies and tv shows, too. Plus (if you own a Kindle) you get access to the Kindle Owners Lending Library which has all the Harry Potter books and Hunger Games (plus tons more, of course)

I also think it is worth it for the free shipping if you buy online a lot. The streaming tv and movies are also a great perk.

I didn't. My ended right as my schooling ended so no more needing it to buy books or electronics for my laptop anymore.
But if you do still constantly shop there then: heck yeah renew. I loved it when I had it (for 3 years!)

I think it's totally worth it! I got it for free for being a student and I thought that there was a amazon mom that gave it for free also... I buy so much of amazon and I love the free two day shipping!

I have been wondering about Amazon Prime too! What kind of other stuff do you all use to purchase? I had someone tell me it was awesome for diapers.

I buy almost everything on amazon so it was worth it for me! Now that I have a 6 week old it is so much easier to have things sent to the house rather than go to the store and the 2 day shipping is great, plus the kindle lending library. I buy cleaning supplies, beauty supplies, baby gear, car stuff, occasionally food. They can be good for buying bulk too. I bought tons of papaya extract for heartburn when I was pregnant and kept a bottle in my car, in my purse, and bottles scattered all over the house.

It's not worth it for me since you get free shipping with $25 anyway.

Mine is set to end in a couple weeks and we are going to go ahead and pay for it. We have a netflix account already but have found several things that Amazon will stream for free with prime that netflix only has in DVD (we only have streaming). Plus we buy a lot of non-baby stuff from Amazon so the shipping we would have ended up paying will be more than the prime membership. Plus I have a kindle so I am looking forward to the free book a month.

If you have a family member or friend who is interested, you can share an account. We share one with my parents, which is awesome - all the perks, half the price. Amazon doesn't have a rule against it (yet...).

I was skeptical at first but after my free trial ended, I realized that I really liked the free 2 day shipping. Plus I buy a lot of stuff from there so I think it is worth it. To echo a previous poster, people have told us that it is fantastic for buying diapers.

When my student membership ended I received an email from Amazon promoting a discount to renew as a regular Prime member. I think I paid $35 or so. It might be worth a phone call to them, asking if there are any discounts/promotions available.

@Meggo5: ooooh I'm jealous! That's a great deal!
For me it's worth it, but I'm an amazon addict.

@meggo5 how do you get a student membership? i wonder if they do any discounted memberships?

I think its totally worth it! I love ordering and knowing my stuff will arrive 2 days later without me having to specifically pay for it, plus we stream and I use the Kindle Lending Library.

@duckduckkristen: quick question for you... what kind/brand of papaya extract do you buy? I have horrible heartburn and was told this was a good cure...

I live off Amazon so it's totally worth it for me. Thankfully my brother just renewed his membership and added me so now I get free Prime!

Totally worth it...I order everything off Amazon and love that I get free 2 day with Prime!

@Lydg: Amazon Prime Student membership is amazing. You just have to have an "@edu" email address and you can sign up for free. I don't know how long it lasts anymore, but when I had it, you could sign up for one year at a time, and then renew when the membership expired. I work in higher education and probably could have kept going for free (using my work, not student, email address) but felt like it was time time pay my dues to Amazon!

It sounds awesome. I have the Kindle App on my iPad and the one-click ordering is so bad...but soooo good. I think it sounds like something I'm going to look into!

Ooooh,..does anyone use the Amazon Mom membership specifically? https://www.amazon.com/gp/mom/signup/info/ref=lp_mom
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I looked into this but found I did better using diapers.com and their family of websites. I always have an order that's over $50 and I haven't paid for shipping there ever.
