My son will turn two in about 1 month and with the arrival of baby girl I haven't started planning it. I don't want to do this big themed party like I did his first, but I still want something fun! (and nice)
Any ideas of themes? Maybe nothing too common.

A couple of parties that I'm hoping to throw for my LO when she gets older:
Painting party.
Camping party.
Baking party (you could decorate cookies or cupcakes).
Monster party.
Candy party.

@artbee: Mavrick loves Balls, Cars, Toy Story (but we aren't doing a character theme) coloring and WATER!
Maybe because his birthday is in july we should do a water balloon party!!! 
(it would suck if the weather was horrible though)

we did a circus party for lil' CB's second birthday party...it was so fun! we got a lot of pre-made decor (cupcake towers, bunting, favor boxes) from oriental trading for cheap and hired a gal to come and do balloon animals and glitter tattoos. the kids loved her!

@blushink: it was actually his first birthday home, so it was a large party, but the kids that we there mostly our friends' kids, some of which were lil' cb's buddies and others that are older.

@Mrs. Cowgirl: ah! ya. I have this big dilemma... who to invite. I don't want to make this big thing out of it. I told myself every 5 years. He had a big 1st, he'll have a big 5th. That way it leaves me room for baby girl. I can't do big shebangs every year.

@blushink: We actually did a ball themed 2nd birthday for one of my nephews. It's was simple and small, but super cute and he loved it.

Pool party, since it's July...even if you don't have a pool, you can get plastic ones and fill them with balls or water.
