I had the mirena and had cramping on and off for a couple of months, which sucked. But then, it wa awesome!! And I stopped having a period, which was super nice too.

I never felt the strings, but my doctor cut them very short and so they curled around my cervix (I think?).

Nope, none of those problems. Spotting on and off the 1st 2 months though. Hope my period goes away.

I had the Mirena too. I could feel the strings at first, but then got used to them (could still feel them with my fingers though). She cut mine, then when I went back to get them checked, she cut them shorter. The reason she left them longer at first was so that if it shifted or moved she would be able to tell and still be able to easily grab the strings. If you don't have another appt set up to get them checked, I would call for sure and tell your dr if they are hanging out. They should be inside, but reachable.

I also had cramping for about a week. Hardly noticeable by the end of the week though. Then I had odd periods and cramping for about 6 wks. After that it got normal, but I always got them.
