I'm getting my mirena tomorrow morning, and while I got a sitter for the actual appointment, it just occurred to me that I might be uncomfortable all day. No clue why it didn't occur to me earlier. How miserable will it be? The kids and I have afternoon commitments!

I had no pain after. At least I don't remember, at most I took some Advil.

I just had some cramping, nothing too bad.

@Smurfette: @pinkb: Fantastic! I can totally handle normal crampy sort of pain with a toddler and an infant and a full schedule. Just not debilitating discomfort. Thanks!

I had a very minor cramping but no pain!

I had some minor cramping. I went to work afterwards and did fine. I don't remember if I took an ibuprofen or not.

No pain at all! The bleeding, however, was another story.

Super mild cramping. Less than that of a normal period.

With both I've had ( pre and post kids), the pain after was the same: less than a normal period. The insertion pain was totally different.

I had 2-3 days of cramps, worse than a period but not unbearable. I was able to work and take care of the baby, but it was definitely uncomfortable.

Had Mirena twice, and no pain at all after both appointments!

Minor period like cramping, nothing ibuprofen couldn't handle!

Really minor cramping...the midwife recommended I take ibuprofen or something before the appointment.

Pre-baby IUD - like pretty bad period cramps. Took Advil and a nap and then was fine. Postpartum IUD - easy peasy. I think I took Advil and don't remember any discomfort!

I thought I'd chime in since I had a very different experience from previous posters. I found the procedure to be really painful, I got woozy and lightheaded, and was in horrible pain for the rest of the night. I was in tears and could barely move. Taking care of LO was quite a struggle. FWIW I had a scheduled c-section and never have given birth vaginally, not sure if that might contribute to the pain I experienced.
