I haven't heard more about the sequestration, but I am in the DoD, so my agency is still feeling the effects of it. My agency hasn't said jack about the *maybe* impending shut down. I'm sure they will sign a CR at 11:59 on 9/30 tho.

I am, but they way our contract is funded we have our work covered for upcoming weeks already. My company last time/this time is covering paychecks during the sequester period - I think they had to do something to "make up" hours direct billable later? I can't remember exactly since it didn't affect me.

My husband is a Federal employee, but he's not paid through the budget.

We're seeing bits of it, as a lot of our work is government. It's going to be bad if we have to lose a line

DH is a federal employee so he has been talking about the possibility of a shutdown for the last couple of weeks. Last time there was a government shutdown he had to work because he is an essential employee, but he didn't get paid until after the shutdown was over.

I've been hearing the possibility of this happening again as well. My parents are retired federal workers, and I believe they'll still be paid as normal. But my sister is a govt contractor and will probably be screwed. Which makes me so mad because she gets paid so little as it is. Just do your damn job, politicians!

We're a Contractor who exclusively does work for the DOD, and we're currently waiting for the end of the FY awards, but have heard that funding issues are preventing our projects from getting funded. I hope it gets resolved ASAP

@Mrs. Tiger: Agreed! My H and I were just saying if they had to go as far as to ground flights, etc., they would probably come to some sort of agreement a hell of a lot faster...

I'm a federal employee too. Last shutdown I still worked because my position isn't funded by the budget appropriations but I'm on maternity leave this time (well, sick leave/PTO given no actual maternity leave) so it's a little weird to be on the outside this time. I actually feel a little bad because like @dcyogabee not everyone in my office is funded the same way which means they will be down another person able to work if there is indeed a shutdown. I really hope it doesn't come to that though- this is getting old.

I work for a gov't contractor, and we're a mixed bag here too - some staff are covered and some won't be. It's definitely tough.

I completely agree that a shutdown should mean the ENTIRE gov't - including Congress's salaries and benefits. They'd be a lot more motivated to pass the budget if they had anything on the line. I also think they shouldn't get any vacation / leave until they pass a budget each year. It irritates the crap out of me that they take most of August off when they don't have a budget passed, and then the "little people" hurt and they're just fine.

Politicians make my blood boil. <insert angry emoji here>
