My hubby is a stay at home dad. His job cut back hours drastically while I was pregnant and the cost of daycare pretty much would have cancelled out his paycheck so we decided to just keep her home with him for a little bit. Sometime between when shes 2-3 we'll look into putting her in school and him going back to work but for right now he is enjoying his time home with her. I won't lie, its definitely hard for me and I get jealous from time to time but I know that its whats best for her and that's what matters.

@LaneyBugsMommy: I think I would feel jealousy as well. My husband is a full-time student and we've looked into me trying to get more flexibility at work w/a laptop and I'd just work mornings, then he could go to school in the afternoons or vice versa and I think that would help with the jealousy I would feel if I were just working all the time and he were home with the baby...

We wouldn't do a SAHD as Hubs would be unable to work from home and he makes more than me. We will try to arrange it so that he has at least one day off different than me, and I'll probably go down to part-time. Not sure yet.

My husband stays at home with the baby, 4 out of 5 weekdays and it's mostly me on the weekend. He was given the flexibility of his work at home, evening and weekend schedule, opposite mine so I'm very grateful not to depend on childcare. I'm very attached to the baby and want to hear her every move. The more I hear about SAHDs becoming more common (like my brother), I am tempted to have my husband stay at home all the time and quit his 40 hr job. I get so tired and sometimes we are grouchy or argue in the limited times we overlap. I think it would be easier. The other day I said, why don't you just stay at home all the time. He said NO, I like what I do. Then the next day, he said....I've been thinking about it. That's where we left the conversation a few days ago. I make a little more money and have a great job, though I'm so looking forward to formally retiring one day. Really, we should both work if we want to afford to travel, decent discretionary money, give gifts, save for college, a car and retirement. If we can do without those things, then we can make it on one (my) salary. And that would be lovely.
