I was touching up my makeup this afternoon and found a big honking brown spot near my jaw line! I'm assuming this is chloasma. I'll pretty much die if I get it all over, the untreatable acne is bad enough!
Anybody else get the mask of pregnancy?

Not yet. But I didn't think I would get skin tags either and that happened. Or kidney stones. Waaaaahhhh

@ladyfingers: I figure I can't be too sad; there's a baby coming, woo hoo! And the kidney stone is gone. And I have lots of drugs I can take if another one shows up. But the drugs don't really work.
But at least there are epidurals for when the baby comes!

@tororojo: True! I panicked hardcore when my midwife told me that pregnant women are more prone to kidney stones. I was like hell no, I am NOT going through that again! Then again, when I got mine I was drinking Diet Coke and coffee all the time. No water.

Yeah...I drink a lot of water, but I had worked myself up to a Dr. Pepper a day right before I came down with the stone. My doc said they aren't necessarily related, but I'm no longer willing to chance it! That's good though, I needed to quit drinking so much soda anyway and now it requires much less willpower. I hope you don't get any!

No, but I've heard that weaing sunscreen regularly and avoiding sun exposure can help. Good luck!!

@hilsy85: Thanks! I use an SPF moisturizer and avoid the sun like the plague to the point where I need to take Vitamin D supplements lol. I have very pale skin and burn easily and go from burn to peel... so I've got that part covered at least!

No, but I was just reading about pregnancy safe sunscreens and I saw something about avoiding any facial products with soy or bergamot oil in it. They can aggravate chloasma.

I had some issues with hyper-pigmentation prior to begin pregnant and I'm pretty sure that the dark patches of skin on my face have got worse during pregnancy.
On a positive note though my acne has cleared up since I hit 40 weeks!

@JerricaBenton: Interesting! I checked, nothing I use has those ingredients. Phew!
