I don't think I can wait until January for third season of Downton. I miss the show so much! Anyone else a Downton addict?

I *JUST* started watching it - my friend bought me season 1 because he was certain I would love it. So I'm just getting into it!

MEEE I LOVE DOWNTON ABBEY!
I think you'll be able to watch online starting in Sept!!

I think I'm the only person in the world who couldn't get into this show.

@Clementine: I love Mr. Bates and Mrs. Hughes cracks me up a little. In the first episode and says to one of the servants who is putting wood in the fireplace, "You're building a fire, not inventing it!" I cracked up - something I would totally say to someone who was taking her sweet ass time. LOL!

I was just thinking about watching it over again on netflix because I miss it so much!!
There is a mini-series by the creator of Downton on netflix now about Titanic. It's called Titanic and it cured my Downton craving for a bit!

@mrsjazz: how far did you get? i've heard folks thought season 1 was borning.
coconut / 8234 posts
I never made it past the first episode. I know that's kind of crazy but I tried 3 times to finish it but was bored to tears.

Oh man, my hubs is already telling everyone that we're going to have a season premiere party with character-themed cocktails. I have to remind him we'll have a 4 week old...Suffice it to say we really like it!

Oh, I loved it. It was so pretty and I loved all the story lines. I had a fit when I saw that Hugh Bonneville was on 2012. I didn't know it was a mini-series, so I had thought he quit Downton.

I can't wait!!! My DH and I just re-watched both seasons so I could get him addicted to it It worked! I am really excited for Shirley MacLaine next season. She and Maggie Smith will be hysterical! Also, I want ALL their dresses.

I'm a huge fan! I'm always telling people who have never seen it to watch. I saw an interview with a producer the other day, and he said the next season/seasons are going to slow down a lot because he doesn't want the series going into the 1930s. Whatever it takes to ensure a 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. season!

I really liked the first season. I haven't seen the second yet.

Yes! I can't wait to see Shirley McLane and Maggie Smith get into it. It's too far away.
GOLD / pear / 1845 posts
Yes! @Mrs. Tricycle: I was thinking that it needed to slow down, or the characters will be looking too young!
**Titanic Spoiler**
@bpcmarj: I so should not have watched Titanic, I'm way too twitchy about kids dying. I was so depressed after!

I love it and totally miss it! I was late to join the train so I had to get caught up watching on Amazon. January is way too far away. I might have to re-watch them and get DH into it as well
@mrsjyw: I really hope we will be able to watch it online. That would be awesome!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh ME! I miss Downton Abbey so much!!!!! My favorite character is Cousin Matthew lol. I also really like Mary. They drive me absolutely nuts a lot of the time but I love them anyway and can’t help it.

OMG, I can't WAIT for the next season. Have you ever seen O'Brien out of character? Hers is the most extreme transformation, I think.
I love Maggie Smith's character. The stuff that comes out of her mouth...pure joy.

@Mrs. Superhero: I know exactly what you mean and cried like a baby!
@dagret: sometimes I just watch the youtube videos with all of the maggie smith one liners. So enjoyable! She cracks me up and I can't WAIT to see how she and shirley mclaine will play off each other (I am imagining weezer from steel magnolias!).

Yes! I still haven't seen the Christmas special, I can't find it anywhere. I watched seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix. Any ideas?
I love all the characters but I think Matthew is my favorite, and then Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson. And I kinda like O'Brien because she seems really complex, like she wants to be evil but she feels bad about it. Oh, and obv Violet.
"What is a week-end?"

@Grace: i actually read in the paper that he was at some tv critics meeting, and he had a FREE MR. BATES T-SHIRT underneath his regular shirt and the crowd went wild!

I am reviving this thread because I JUST watched the first season of Downton Abby on Sunday and I AM OBSESSED!! I plowed through all 7 episodes without stopping... (DH was watching 11 hours of football!!) Just started season 2 last night. I even ordered it on Amazon last night and had it shipped to my mom's house because I know it's something she'll like too, haha.
I'm really bummed that each season is SO short! If they even made it 12 eps per season, I would be so much happier! Grrr...
It's so hard to pick a fave character. Maggie Smith cracks me up... but I think I really like Lord & Lady Crowley. They seem so benevolent!

OMG - YES!!!!! i cannot wait for this to come back! (thanks for reviving the tread sweetchic, haha)...
it is playing in the UK starting this weekend (I think).... anyone know a way that we can see it now instead of waiting until January??
nectarine / 2834 posts
@sweetchic: Season 2 is even better in my opinion! That's when I became an addict.
Gah -- I can't wait til January.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@hellobeeboston - it did start in the UK!
i think you can see online episodes through some of the video upload websites like tv-links~

@Tidybee: Really, season 2 is better?!? Sounds like I'm in for a treat... I'm 3 episodes in, and so far it's great, but not as great as season 1, in my opinion.
I'm not a big fan of war-period dramas, so I really liked it when the Crowleys were rich and carefree, HAHA. Call me shallow...
coconut / 8472 posts
@sweetchic: Haha, I like it better when they're rich too. I was a little bummed when I read the next season they start having financial troubles. I think it's more fun to watch how an incredibly rich family during that time lived.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
@MrsCB: Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I love seeing the lifestyles of the wealthy.
Oh, and I just ordered the companion book off Amazon... I'm on a total Downton rampage right now...

Miss it soo much! Although it's something to look forward to for the winter.
