I'm jealous of all the summer traveling! We're not going anywhere this summer...not even for a long weekend. Boo.
Might be visiting my family on Labor Day weekend but that does not count.
Anyone else lame like us (aka broke-mon)

Our next vacation is in October for camping. DH and I will probably go out for a night though, for my birthday my mom gave me a hotel room while she babysits. I think she just wanted a sleepover with LO..... but I'll take it! We'll probably just spend the night on the beach.

We will probably do a couple day trips. The only thing we really have planned is that we're going to drive up to Edinburgh at some point. We also know we want to do Bath/Stonehenge/Stratford-Upon-Avon too. We're trying to squeeze a few things in before we leave in September.

@zippylef: you are making me completely jealous. Which is not the point of this thread!
clementine / 838 posts
ME! But that is beause we are moving June 29th, and Dh is using 7 of his 10 vacation days for that. We hope to get a weekend camping trip in sometime this summer but it doesnt look promising.
pineapple / 12526 posts
@regberadaisy: Sorry. These things are like... an easy drive away. It's not really a vacation!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@zippylef: haha I know. It definitely makes sense to pack as much in before you leave though! Did you guys travel to any other countries while over there?
pineapple / 12526 posts
@regberadaisy: DH got to do Germany and France. I've already been to France, so I wasnt too sad. But, unfortunately, no. I was pregnant and then we had a newborn... it just made any travel really hard. We've seen a few things around England and we're hoping to do at least Scotland before we leave.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@zippylef: That will be really fun! We also want to see Scotland too mainly bc DH wants to visit the best golf course ever. hahah

We aren't. But I am due at the end of August so we are saving the vacation time and money for her. We do plan on heading out to AZ at the end of November to celebrate DD's first Hanukkah with his family. I have never celebrated Hanukkah with them but Mr. Hedgie celebrates Christmas with my family every year. I only think it is fair!

Maternity leave was my vacation this year. So sad no beach trip this year.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
Well, yes and no - we don't have the funds to 'go away', even though DH does get a week off. But we do have somewhere that's a little ways from home to spend time at. A campground where we have our Airstream set up. It's about two hours from home.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
No real vacation this summer.
We're going to Austin to visit the in laws in July though.
Headed to CA sometime too.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
If anything, P and I will go to see my Mom for a couple days. Otherwise, we are staying home!
pomelo / 5073 posts
We aren't. D is saving his vacation time for the baby in October. I'm off for the summer, but have workshops to go to for hours Nd stuff like that.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Unfortantely I don't have any vacation until end of July, which is when DH's busy time at work starts up, so we are planning a trip in October but that's it. We have a couple day trip planned though so we will make it through.

We never go away during the summer. It's warm in New York so why leave? We leave here in the winter and go somewhere warm!
pomelo / 5178 posts
All of our summer travel is to go visit family this summer. We just got back from my parents' house, we're going to my in-laws' house in July and September, and my SIL's wedding is in August. I really want to go camping at the end of the summer, but I'm not sure my husband will have any time left off!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
I can't remember the last time I went on a vacation just for a vacation!!! It's always to visit someone or for someone's wedding. This summer we're going to Indy/Chicago for my baby shower and then DH's brother's wedding. 3 days total. And then the weekend before I'm going to NJ for my family's baby shower. That's it! Plus FL is so hot in summer anywhere in driving distance is too hot! I hope to take DH and LO to SLC Utah to visit my sister sometime within baby's first year which I would consider a real vacation! Maybe summer, I hear it's awesome there then! But that's next year.

@kjpugs: YES! Our last "vacation" was our honeymoon in September 2010. So sad.
eggplant / 11716 posts
Me, because I'm 8 months pregs and by the time I get to summer vacation, I won't be able to fly.
But we did take a babymoon to DR in April, so I can't complain *too* much.

@regberadaisy: same, March 2010! Haha! Money has been spent in other places since then, OY!

We aren't. I'll be on unpaid maternity leave, so our annual beach trip is a no go. Luckily I'm getting a baby in exchange for it or else I'd be super bummed!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Maternity leave is my vacay! We did take a trip to Vegas a couple weeks ago for my dad's wedding, which frankly was not all that fun at 32w...but yayy for 8 weeks of maternity leave! Maybe I'll get to do a couple day trips to visit the ILs or my parents, but that's it. No 'real' vacation for the next year!
nectarine / 2063 posts
We haven't gone on any sense our honeymoon. DH can't physically handle a trip. We do small day trips to the cabin with extended family but that don't count either. Sadly we will never be able to take a ligit vacation together again.
watermelon / 14467 posts
Due to my husband's summer travel schedule, we rarely go anywhere in the summer. This year, I have to save all of my vacation days for my maternity leave so I can get one full paycheck. It's a huge bummer.
grapefruit / 4085 posts
We're doing more day-trips too. We are going to stay at a fancy hotel near our home for our anniversary, but that's it. We plan on going to Boston for a weekend in Nov.
grapefruit / 4817 posts
We're not going anywhere, either. We haven't been anywhere in a good 3 years. My husband is just incredibly difficult to get on a plane or on a long car ride, and I can't justify spending any money on vacation. I don't know why I get so tight when it comes to taking a break, but I do.
honeydew / 7909 posts
We're putting our vacation money towards building our garage... since LO is due in November, we don't want to worry about the Iowa weather and the baby being out in it.
But I'll be dreaming of warm, sunny beaches!!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
We don't vacation in the traditional sense ... Just a road trip to visit our parents.
pomelo / 5820 posts
LO is due in July, so we won't be going anywhere this summer. I can't complain too much though, I've already been to FL twice this year. We are planning on going somewhere with LO next summer for sure.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@Ash: good choice!
@Pepper: lucky! I was really hoping to travel with LO (as in fly) before she turns 2. I don't think that is going to happen.
pomelo / 5791 posts
DH and I have never been on a vacation together. Ever. We cancelled our honeymoon because we got pregnant instead and wanted to save money.
Now with the LO, we just can't justify the cost of anything except diapers lol
bananas / 9227 posts
We normally take winter vacations, not summer. But the last few times were visiting my mom and family and it doesn't really feel like a vacation, especially since I'm doing all the driving cause DH isn't used to the traffic.
There's a tentative plan to go on a short road trip this summer, but I honestly hate road trips, so we'll see how that goes. I'm pushing for a REAL vacation this upcoming winter. But that's more than a few months away!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
We are lame too but my maternity leave has been relaxing.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
LO is due at the end of July, so I guess my maternity leave will be my vacation. DH's grandmother lives on Cape Cod, though, which is less than 2 hours away, so we will probably go out to visit her for a long weekend at least--not exactly a vacation, staying with your husband's grandmother, but still, it will be time at the beach!
We did our last *real* vacation before baby back in March, so I can't complain. And my mat leave starts two weeks before my due date so I'm counting that as my vacation time
honeydew / 7303 posts
We're going to the beach for a week at the end of July. I think we will meet my family at a lake house for a long weekend in August probably. I would like to do more, but I want to save my vacation time for winter!
coconut / 8430 posts
I don't think we are going anywhere the rest of the year!
We might go to visit my family for Christmas though!
I can't complain too much though. We took a pretty fabulous trip in March!
pomegranate / 3516 posts
We're hoping to go away for a long weekend but we're not sure it'll happen yet. I really want to go though and keep pushing it so I'm hoping it happens. The last time we've been on vacation was our honeymoon in March 2011 so it's been a while.
pear / 1570 posts
No vaca for us. We have a week up in the mountains planned for October and DH was just asked to be in a wedding in FL in Nov (waves at @kjpugs) so we are trying to figure out what to do because we cannot do both
