I am so bummed out. I noticed I was getting super fat and sure enough my tsh was over 7 
so bummed out. Just had to vent. I wish they would monitor me better.
Now I am supposed to take my dose twice a day two times a week and once the other days. Just seems so weird!
Anyone else deal with this?

Mine was like that before meds, but not that crazy since. It definitely has gone a bit wacko since my first pregnancy and on, but not as high as a 7. How often does your endocrinologist monitor your levels? Sorry you are dealing with this...I know it's not fun.

@Greentea: I had my thyroid removed so I know how you feel. My endo monitors me like a hawk. Right now I'm at .56 which took about 3 years for me to stay consistent without a a synthroid dosage change
If your levels are off and you dont feel well. Call your doctor and have them give you another blood test and they can adjust your meds accordingly.

Before meds my TSH was like 63 but has been under control since I started taking meds. How often do you go in? I go in every 6 months though I am overdue right now....

@Mrs. M: I am stressed about it maybe I should see an endo? My ob used to monitor me but after I had baby I saw my gp and she didn't send me to an endo. Maybe I should see a different gp. The same doc didn't send me to dermatology when I needed a mole checked and she removed it herself and left me with a giant scar on my chest... it has been 6 months since she checked me but being postpartum I think she should have checked sooner. I went to her after dd was born specifically to be monitored because my ob office was done with me for the time being

@bunnylove08: thanks bunnylove. It stressed me out because it affects so many things! I am frustrated she wasn't monitoring me better. When I saw her in the fall I thought she was going to check me every 5 weeks (my ob had been checking every 4!) But when I went in 5 weeks later they said come back in 6 mos... then I called 6 mos. later and they said some the next month! Ugh! Maybe it is time for a new doc. I wonder if I can go straight to an endo this time instead of a gp.
@mamimami: so everyone seems more stable on the meds than I am... I had been every 4 weeks with the pregnancy and then transferred to my gp to be monitored and she only checked me after 6 mos. I will have to make them see me sooner. I want to just see an endo...

@Greentea: Your Endo should be monitoring your levels. When I was pregnant my Endo monitored and reported the levels to my OB.
You should really press them for another blood test or call your endo and request one. Tell them your symptoms, thats what I did and I always got a blood test if I felt off.
If you feel your doctor is not doing the job find a new one. But have your levels checked with an endo.
I'm at 150 mcg everyday synthroid brand. I found taking generic made me more tired. My friend who is a pharmacist said its because each manufacture uses different fillers. I also check different medical boards and most people suggested taking the brand since the ingredients are always the same.

My TSH was over 12 when I was diagnosed. Luckily since I've been medicated it's stayed steady. Even so far during pregnancy I haven't had to change my dose. I've been getting it checked once a month.

i am on low level synthroid, since getting pregnant my internist has requested i double my dosage 2 days a week. i get monthly bloodwork at my ob to confirm that i am still normal.

Mine was over 12 too when I was diagnosed and it's been ALL over the place in the last 15 years. Hypo, Hyper (on meds) and everywhere in between. I have had the most success keeping it under control with Dessicated Thyroid. Synthroid and Levothryoxine never seemed to do anything - I was up to 300 mcg and no change.
It took years to get it under control - I really hope yours gets sorted faster.

@Greentea: Definitely consider going to an endocrinologist! They (from my experience) do a great job monitoring levels which is essential for thyroid issues. After having my daughter I was monitored every two months until it was under control (and every 6-months after that). Good luck!
