How do you cope?
LO (7 weeks) gets fussy mainly I think because she doesn't sleep when we go out. Sometimes taking her out even for a half an hour walk results in hours of fussing later. I feel so house bound..what to do??

C was the most fussy, screamy newborn. I swear, every single time we left the house she would scream and scream and wouldn't nap. I don't honestly have much advice on what to do because I just sort of dealt with it. Eventually, she outgrew it. Somewhere between 3-4 months old, it was like a lightswitch flipped and she was a different baby. She is seriously the most happy, giggly, well-behaved baby now. Hopefully, you have similar luck. She still doesn't nap worth a damn when we're out though.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I hope we'll be able to celebrate the holidays with family without having her scream through the whole thing!!

7 weeks was definitely still a fussy time for us. He would fall asleep in thr car only to wake up when we arrived and scream. Couple times i just turned around and went home. Does your LO take a paci? Or maybe an ergo or something like that would help?

I hated doing errands with my LO when he was that age. He would fall asleep in the car, wake up 10 minutes after we arrived, and then start fussing and fussing unless I held him. He would sometimes take a pacifier but it didn't always work. I ended up buying an activity bar that hooks onto his car seat (we use a car seat caddy when doing errands) so that helped keep him entertained. Luckily he's much better now and hardly fusses when we're out - he's 4.5 months. Looking back I probably should have worn him more in the Ergo when he was younger but it was a pain putting him in the infant insert.

I did okay at that stage if I wore the babies in a carrier. But still not for super long.
They grow out of it!

Ours screamed whether we were at home or out for the first 4 months, so we rarely went out. Pretty much, between colic in the early days, and napping and nursing so frequently during the daytime in the first year, I feel now, and expect to still feel, housebound for another 5 months (LO is 7 months).

Ok so I guess I just have to wait this out. I'm so bummed because in the beginning we could take her anywhere (but didn't go many places because of the germs.) Now it's near impossible. At least I have that to look forward to.
@Erinpye I feel the same way about the first year..but I hope that I'm wrong. Sometimes we'll just take her and deal with the consequences later..

6-8 weeks is the peak of fussiness for babies so hopefully it'll get better for you soon! I used to hate going out with my LO because if he wasn't sleeping he was fussing/crying. It got better at around 10-ish weeks and using the carrier worked well for us too.

@googly-eyes: I hear you. We are pretty successful with the carrier or wrap now when we do go out, so you may try that. And it does get better. We were actually able to go to brunch yesterday, put LO in a high chair, and no meltdowns! Good luck, mama!
