I'm getting a digital perm tomorrow and I'm kinda nervous! Anyone ever get one before? I know they attach you to a funky machine... I'm hoping for nice wavy hair instead of my current limp, straight hair.

I did when I was in Hong Kong. Really liked it because the waves are more relaxed and natural. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!!

@MrsBrewer: err, I actually have no idea how much it costs. My mom made the appointment. I wasn't planning to get one, but my mom is going to the Korean salon tomorrow for a regular perm and asked if I wanted to keep her company and get one too. I was like.... Hrmm, ok, sign me up for a digital perm!

i want one sooooo bad! my stylist is telling me not to do it, my hair is greying pretty bad & it makes for weird texture and combination of dry & oily hair, but i want to! i've tried to tell him that if i did that i wouldn't have to heat style it & it would save damage that way but he didn't buy it =( please post pics tomorrow! we wanna see your pretty hair!

i've had one and would get one again. actually the one i got last time was too loose! if i get it again i would get it tighter because it loosens up so much after a little while. it looks like i just had a slight wave instead of curls, which is what my hair kinda looks like anyway!

I get them. It takes so long at the salon but it's worth it. I don't have to do anything with my hair everyday, just wash and go.

yup, i've gotten several! but, i've found that the setting perm (that's what my korean stylist calls it) with the cone shaped curlers works just as well and is lots cheaper. i usually get my hair permed between 2-3 times a year. i know it's not the best for your hair, but it makes it so much more manageable, and i don't have to blow dry because it's just wash and go and the curls dry really well on their own!
will you share an after shot, pretty please?

I would love to see pictures too!! Do u have thick hair? I read online that it may not work well on fine hair (which is what I have )

@MrsBrewer: oye, i didn't realize it doesn't work well on fine straight hair, which is what I have but i guess I'll have the stylist evaluate my hair and determine if digital or regular perm would work better.

I had it done about 3 years ago in between having my LOs. I loved it because straight hair was getting boring! My hair is naturally a little wavy and a little straight... Annoyingly in between... So I switch off between Japanese straightening and digital perms every few years.
I think digital perms, like any hair treatment, take better to certain kinds of hair than others. It took to my hair pretty well, but I did have to take some time and shape the waves after shampooing, but I did love it and would do it again!
Post pics after you get it done good luck!

I have never heard of this before and was so confused until I googled it-- but now I want one! However, most of the things I saw about it were on Asian hair-- anyone know if it works on very fine, slippery caucasian hair? I couldn't do it in the summer though-- I end up with my hair in a ponytail every day anyway because I hate having hair on my neck when its hot. But in the fall...

I'm sitting in the chair right now!! It's a long process, I've been here for about 2 hours so far and the lady just put in the curlers and attached each curler to the heating machine. I feel my head getting hot...
Now that we can upload pics, I'll definitey post one later!

Hello, hello! Just thought I'd come back and post a photo of my new perm!
Yesterday I was ready to post, "I HATE MY PERM!! It is so frizzy...looks damaged and the curls are weird and kinky." And then boohoo about it with all you lovely ladies...
BUT, I conditioned the hell out of it yesterday and bought some curl activating cream, and it's actually looking ok today! Usually I only condition the ends of my hair and leave it in for 20 - 30 seconds since my hair is thin and fine. But last night I slathered it from root to tip and left it in for 2 minutes. And it makes a big difference, thank goodness!
Now let's see if this photo upload thing works. Sorry for the poor cellphone in a mirror pic...

so cute! i love it! did you do a moroccan oil treatment? that stuff is amazing! the pic you posted, is that just air dried? i need to find a way to convince my stylist my hair can handle it

@mrs. bird: Thanks for the link! No, I didn't use the Moroccan oil, but it looks interesting (and pricey, it better work miracles, haha!)
I used a conditioner with keratin and then put in some curl defining cream before I blow dried it.

@kokobee: Thanks! Did yours eventually look better after it loosened?
Honestly though, I don't love it and I don't hate it... (but I hated it yesterday!). Perms are scary, haha!
