Pierson will be 9 months on july 9th and doesnt really try to crawl. im not gonna lie, im kinda worrried....if you (he doesnt get into crawling position by himself, doesnt try to) put him on his hands and knees he will rock back and forth for a couple minutes then cry or throw himself down to get off. he also doesnt try to pull up at all and cant get himself into sitting position from when he is laying down.
we "practice" crawling by putting things out of reach, etc, he really has no interest though....should i be worried? ive read some babies are just content where they are at and dont show any intrest in it, and i *think* possibly this may be whats going on with him. i know all babies develop differently just wanted to get some other parents perspective on it!
all other skills he is average/advanced, he is very very social and babbles a ton.
he also hates being on his stomach still, always has since he was born.

Try not to worry! M didn't start crawling until 10 months old and now she's unstoppable!!! I was kind of nervous about the delay, but she was behind on rolling too.
He'll be on the move soon I'm sure!ETA: Mya hated tummy time too, which I think had a lot to do with it. Shortly after she started crawling, she started pulling up too.

Mine army crawled until 10 months, suddenly one day he figured out crawling and sitting up on his own at the same time. Shortly after that cruising happened, and he was everywhere.

My LO army crawled until she was a little over 11 months old!

i wouldn't worry. a lot of babies completely skip crawling and go from scooting to walking.

I think the jury is still out as to whether skipping crawling is okay or not. I was concerned my son would skip it as well, but he did eventually do it but was walking a month later.

My LO will be 10 months in a few days and isn't crawling yet (army or regular). She gets up easily onto all fours by herself and rocks back and forth and does get around in other ways. Just the other night she took 3 crawling "steps" - her first, but the actions didn't seem to "click" with her as she hasn't done any more crawling.
Our pediatrician isn't concerned at all; some babies don't ever crawl at all. My LO is very curious and seems advanced in other areas, so I'm not concerned. Plus, one less thing for me to worry about; she's always about right where I leave her, haha!

Average age for crawling isn't until 8 months, so I wouldn't worry yet. S didn't crawl until 1 day before his 9 month "birthday".

My LO is 9.5 months with hardly any interest in crawling or pulling up. He has just started to scoot backwards, but cries when I try to put him on his hands and knees. I'm assuming it will click and he'll do it when he's ready. Same thing happened when we kept trying to get him to sleep unswaddled. Anytime we tried, he wouldn't fall asleep for a long time if ever. Then one day, he decided he was done with the swaddle and that was that.

@stargal: Your LO will be 1 in July, right? Your LO might skip crawling all together.

My son was 10 months old before he crawled and he never liked practicing. He went from nothing (not even rocking back and forth on hands and knees) to crawling across a room. Try not to worry.

Don't worry! My son was a late sitter, crawler, walker, and talker...he didn't walk until about 14 months. But, now he's 5 and in Kindergarten and is a real smarty pants.
One day your LO will just be ready and will start crawling.

ahh thank you eveyone for easing my fears!!! i feel so much better about it now that others have had babies that arent crawling right away! ahh i seriously love how helpful this community is!

@littlek: yup july 9th he will be one! maybe he will skip crawling!

I would try not to, a lot of babies skip crawling and go straight to walking as well!
