I am ordering my medications in a couple of weeks and I am super nervous. The injections alone cost a lot of money, then the trigger shot and the IUI make it more. I am curious if anyone has gotten pregnant this way and how many cycles did it take? Thank you!

Our 2nd cycle of injectables + IUI worked (we did one cycle with just injectables, too). I had a laparoscopy in between those IUI cycles as well. The 2nd cycle was rough b/c they upped my medication dosage and my body went crazy, but it turned out to work!
Good luck! I know it's a lot to process, but I took comfort in a nurse telling me, "You're doing all that you can."

Bumping this thread. I am starting my first month of clomid + injectables + trigger shot + IUI. I did IUI last month withOUT injectables and it wasn't successful.
Would love to hear some success stories. I'm over a year of TTC and starting to really feel frustrated

@Worrywart: @fotolori1: I have 2 LOs, DS (2 years) and DD (4 months) from clomid + injectibles + trigger shot + IUI.
With DS it took 3 cycles using all the above before we got pregnant and with DD it took 2. If you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to answer what I can!

@jmarionsmith: Great to hear you had success twice! Very reassuring. Is there anything you did the successful months that you can remember? I was wondering if it would help to have sex the night after IUIs? I wasn't sure if this was a no no.
I do have a 2 1/2 year old and got pregnant with just clomid. It's been A LOT tougher this time around.

@fotolori1: @Worrywart: I'm another success story with injectables and IUI. Our first baby was conceived after 2 IUIs with clomid failed, and then our first IUI/injectables cycle succeeded. I'm now over 13 weeks with our second baby, conceived with two rounds of injectables/IUI.
@Worrywart: Sex after the IUI is good. I think you just have to watch it before the IUI so that the sperm sample is large enough. I attribute my success the first time around to the fertility yoga class I took and mediation. The second time around, luck and distraction from being a mom. I seriously think that getting pregnant is luck and magic. And trusting your doctors. I wish you the best!

Yup! Worked for us on our first attempt (Gonal F plus trigger shot plus IUI) and I have 19-month-old twins as a result!

I got pregnant with my first baby an a Clomid/Gonal-F trigger shot IUI cycle. It was my first IUI after 18 months of failed trying on our own and one unmonitored Clomid cycle. For this pregnancy I did a Clomid/Bravelle/Trigger Shot IUI that failed and then immediately started other Clomid/Bravelle cycle but I never needed the Bravelle because on the Monitoring before I was to take the Bravelle they discovered one 22 mm follicle so they went ahead and triggered me for the IUI and we were successful.

@kayakgirl73: Thanks for your story. I had one very strong 21 mm follicle last month but the clomid + trigger + IUI didn't work. Hoping that injectables this month will help a bit more!

My cousin starts her IUI + injectable cycle, so I was just wondering about this! It's so good to hear so many success stories, and I'll be passing this on to her!

Update: Just heard back from my RE that Aetna takes 7-10 business days to authorize this injectable medication and I'm supposed to be taking it Saturday-Sunday. So now I won't have it in time. Looks like we are trying one more month of clomid + Ovidrel trigger + IUI.
Any success stories of just this?

@Worrywart: I got pregnant with clomid + ovidrel + IUI. It ended up being ectopic but it had nothing to do with the meds. Best wishes and FX to you!
After the ectopic pregnancy we did a few more rounds of clomid + IUI. Our last cycle before thinking about IVF was Follistim +Ovidrel + IUI. Got pregnant and now have a rambunctious 6 month old

I'm a new success story! Insurance required one more round of IUI before we moved onto IVF (we had two failed IUIs) so I had zero expectations. We did Femara/Ovidrel/IUI and I just got my BFP this week. I was shocked. Hoping for the best for you!!

My story is as follows, so I am beyond stressed and ready for this to work:
1 year not trying not preventing
Lap one year ago this past October (stage IV endo, scar tissue, narrowed cervix)
Hubby's sperm checked= fine
HSG showed both tubes open.
5 failed IUI's with clomid and HCG trigger (only 3 were "good" cycles)Now moving to Injectable meds, trigger and monitored IUI. So I am really ready for this to take and move on.

I am in my TWW of my second IUI (clomid + Ovidrel trigger). I'm feeling hopeful because the sperm count and mobility was great. If this one doesn't work, we may be moving on to IVF

@Worrywart: Is there a reason you wouldn't go to an injectibles/IUI cycle instead of on to IVF next?

@sweetooth: I think because my husband's sperm mobility and morphology is low. Not every sample we've used for IUI has been a strong one. Luckily on my first day of IUI last Friday, it was the best it had ever been and I had 3 mature follicles. Fingers crossed this may be the month, but if not, I will talk with my doctor on how he thinks we should proceed. Ideally I would like to avoid IVF if possible but not sure if these IUIs are working

I know that chances decline with IUIs the more that you do and I do think the if you have MFI then IUIs are less successful. For me, we went to injectables after our second failed IUI because I wasn't responding well to Clomid, and we weren't able to control the timing of the cycle as closely as we could with the monitored doses of injectables. Sounds like you have responded well, so like I said - I'm hoping for a BFP for you! And if you do end up having to talk to your doctor about next steps, just ask lots of questions.

@sweetooth: Thank you for your advice! Helps so much. We got pregnant so easily with DD, just on clomid with my OB on the second month of trying. It's now been over a year and EVERYONE around me is pregnant. Starting to feel very discouraged but trying to stay positive that this is our month!
