Our little guy is turning one month next week and it never occurred to me to start the monthly photos. We aren't putting him on social media so I'm not sure who else would look at them and another thing on my "don't forget to..." list is so overwhelming right now... We already have a zillion photos, I'm just not feeling the need to document something each month! I also never did the pregnancy shots by week. Sheer laziness

I did, but only because a friend gave me monthly onesies. Until that gift it was something I had never thought of.

With my first, I took them, but not in the same place/with props/etc. I went back and wrote over them some of his milestones (I think I did it in retrospect around 6 months, and then monthly after that.) I like having them, but it was a good way to do it since I didn't think to start them originally.

My second, I did the same place (mostly, we moved when he was 6 months old) with belly stickers, and actually, I don't love them nearly as much!

I tried but by the last few months, she wouldn't stay still on the blanket or chair that I was using so I sort of gave up. I also think I made life too hard because I had my own ideas for how I wanted to do them, but SIL gave me this whole set of month onesies and I felt obligated to take pics with those every month in addition to the ones I wanted. Basically I ended up with two partial sets of photos which we never used.

I don't plan on doing monthly shots. If I did, I feel like it's something I'd do with my first and not my second.

I'll probably do quarterly ones like someone else mentioned. newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year. Then maybe yearly. And then one on the first and last days of school. Maybe.

@simplyfelicity: I didnt do the "traditional" monthly pictures in the same oufit or same prop. But I still took tons of pictures and always took one every month

I did, and I'm glad I have them, but it got to be more stressful than fun (so what's the point?) I wanted consistency--laying on a blanket with the same toy and a month sticker. Once she started rolling, it was so much work to get her to stay put. She didn't understand why I kept flipping her back over and trying to get her to stay still.

I'll try to do something to document each month, but it will not involve baby staying still!

I had so many plans...and then I realized I liked the candid shots better, so we have at least a monthly photo but they're all so different from each other.

@Happygal: same! I do weekly (and monthly) and it always has to be a different blanket/background/theme. Looking back, it was definitely ambitious. I'm looking forward to LO being 1 year so I don't need to worry about it anymore lol

Nope. I started, but realized I wasn't really doing it because I wanted to, but more in a keeping up with the Jones's kind of way, because it felt like everybody else was. So I stopped.

I mean, I've taken photos of them every month. But official monthly photos? Not even close! I like looking at other people's, but I don't like the fuss of taking them myself!

I couldn't even be bothered to take weekly pregnancy photos. I think I got one every 3 weeks or so. I figure I take plenty of pictures of him, I'll just choose one from each month to order and put in his album. Maybe with some notes as described above.

I did them, but was not crazy about keeping the same spot, same position, etc.

We did weekly photos until 12 weeks with LO1. Lo2 we are trying to do the same but missed 2 weeks. After that, we will try to do studio pics 2-3 times a year.
