With my first i had a video monitor, it broke and we just replaced it with a sound one. Honestly, we only use it when we decide to sit on the deck after the kids are in bed and with it being snowy/cold it's not being used. I hear her the minute she wakes up, our room isn't far away so I don't really feel the need. What about you? anyone else not use oen?

We used one until LO was maybe 18 months? Then it broke and we haven't replaced it yet. Not sure if we will for #2.

I still use one on my 3 year old. I would never hear her otherwise. I also like spying on her!

I don't! We live in a small house and sound travels verrrry well.

My LO is a stripper. She would probably sleep naked every night if we didn't have a video monitor.

We haven't for a long time. I'll probably set it up over the summer when I'm solo parenting more just so I can hear her while I'm in the shower or relaxing outside.

We didn't but that was by accident. It was last on our list & LO arrived before we could get it...then we never did. I do want a video one for next baby though - looks so cute!!

We didn't, mostly because we lived in a one bedroom apartment. Now, even in a 2 bedroom, we still don't have one. I didn't feel the need.

We don't use one. Small house. Thin walls. We have one that we plug in if we go in the backyard while the kids are asleep.

never. I can hear them just fine; their room has always been right next to ours.

We've always just had a sound one. We use it at night time because with his sound machine plus the fan in our room and both doors shut, we might not hear him (although if he screamed we would).

We used one with E. I don't think we'll get one when we move G out of our room. Their room is just down the hall, and I'm a light sleeper. E talking in his sleep wakes me up. I might get a sound one just for when we're on the deck.

We didn't use one for several months in our last house. Ours broke, we gave up on rigging up old iPhones, and one night just went to sleep with both doors open. Our rooms were right across from each other. She was waking up in the night still then, and I heard her cry right away, so I knew the monitor was not necessary.
Now we have one again because her bedroom is upstairs in our new house and we wouldn't hear her.

no. the crib was in our masters bedroom until we moved (it was a huge room) at 13 months and it was a townhome.
I'm debating on if we should get one bc now we live in a bigger house, LO#2 is the furthest away, toddler's noise will be louder, etc

We used a basic audio one until he was about 15 months? He had been STTN for months at that point and our bedroom is just down the hall. We use it occasionally if he's sick but overall we don't anymore. I'm pregnant with #2 and requested a double video monitor. I think it'll be helpful with more than one LO.

Two kids, three houses and we've never needed one.

We don't. We live in a relatively small apartment so I can hear everything. I am also a very light sleeper with ears like radars and I wake up to every little sound in the night.

We had a pricey video monitor that stopped taking a charge after only a year and we never replaced it. We can hear DS from anywhere in our house so it's unnecessary. I finally bought a cheapie audio only one recently though when he spent the night at my parents house. They didn't even use it but it's nice to have just in case we stay somewhere new where his room is too far for us to hear.

I had to have a video monitor but truth be told, it stressed me out. So we stopped using it and eventually sold it.

We have used one with both LO1 and LO2, but for different reasons!
With LO1, I actually used it more for video than for sound. I would turn the sound off/down and look at the video when she woke up to see if she was worked up & needed soothing or not (basically was she crying while laying down still or standing up!). We also had to let her learn to self-soothe, and checks made her angrier, so the video let me see her without her knowing. We stopped using the monitor with her around 8 or 9 months.
Then we moved to a house with kids' rooms on the first floor and the master on the third floor. At that point, just a sound one would've been fine, but we still had the video monitor so used that. Otherwise I never would've heard any MOTN wakeups at all (nightmares, pottybreaks from the older; MOTN feedings from the younger).
In our new house, I'm still using the sound part of the monitor for LO1s room since potty requests need to be responded to quickly in the night!

We never did! He almost always slept/sleeps in our room, and we have a pretty small house.
