Looking at options for holiday cards. Shutterfly has a great deal right now. I wonder how the thickness of the card compares to a place like Tiny Prints (their cards are really substantial).

They seem plenty thick to me. I was really unimpressed with my card this year though. I printed through Shutterfly last year too, and loved the card. For the price, it was great quality. This year the card I got looks cheaply printed... undersaturated and fuzzy. I got one of the foil cards, which cost more, so I'm especially bummed.

I've ordered from them but I have never ordered from Tiny Prints, so I can't compare.

I've ordered from both and the premium/signature cardstock seems about the same to me.. I'm no paper expert but I think they're both nice!

I ordered from shutterfly but got the photo paper ones. I've seen the card stock ones though and they seem like good quality.

We got the premium cardstock from shutterfly last year and they were super thick. Took forever to arrive though.

I got the regular photo paper ones from them a few years ago. They printed nicely but the cheaper photo paper definitely doesn't feel as nice as the thicker card stock ones I've gotten. Colors were nice and bright. Never tried their card stock.

I haven't ordered from TinyPrints, but Shutterfly cards are about as thick as regular cards you can buy. I've used them for a few years and am usually happy with the quality... sometimes they photos turn out a bit blurry, but they're usually fine on postcards.

I've ordered from both and the Shutterfly cards are a tiny bit thinner than TinyPrints. They are about the thickness of a postcard.

I think the quality is comparable, I got Tiny Prints for LO's birthday invites and usually do Shutterfly for Christmas cards and think they were about the same.

I don't know about Tiny Prints but I order from Shutterfly every year and have been happy with them. (I also do a few batches when they have their 10 free card offer, so for 60c/card, I can't complain)

I've always had really good experiences with Shutterfly. Got great cards from them last year. Didn't do cards this year but got a lot of photobooks for family Christmas gifts! I've also ordered a few cards from Tiny Prints and didn't notice any discernible quality difference.

I have mine in front of me right now! I got the standard card stock, but they have a "high quality" version as well. I think the regular is still really nice, same as a tiny prints baby announcement I got last month, if not a little better. I like that you can choose the edge type as well, so it makes them look a bit nicer!

We did TinyPrints this year and I was much happier than I was with Shutterfly in past years.

We ended up going with Tiny Prints, because we liked their designs best and they had a 40% off coupon.

@photojane: ugh, I am worried about that! I saw a view reviews on their site to that effect. We usually use TinyPrints, but shutterfly is s little cheaper and they have a design I prefer. Not sure what to do and I need to decide asap as TinyPrints 40% off ends today.

@photojane: You should complain! This happened to me two years ago and they sent me a brand new set after I complained that the printing wasn't crisp. The second set was much better.

@78h2o: if I could do it again, I would pay a little more and go with tinyprints!

@ohapostrophe: I think I will call or email tomorrow and just see what they have to say!

@ohapostrophe: @photojane: agree! these companies are there to print well and i would absolutely complain if they aren't up to snuff!

@photojane: Did you have any luck contacting them? I put in a complaint and only received an apology.

@photojane: I'm interested if you heard anything back!
We got ours in the mail the other day and I was also disappointed in the picture quality--not terrible but not as good as I was expecting. I've ordered from Tiny Prints the last several years (holiday cards and birth announcements) and never had an issue but I decided to go with Shutterfly this year since they were less and had a design I really liked. I'll probably go back to Tiny Prints next year!

we ordered from shutterfly 3 christmases in a row and ordered from tiny prints this year.
I regret not ordering from shutterfly again. their quality is a lot better.

This was my first year ordering Christmas cards but we used Shutterfly and we are happy with everything.

@chopsuey: I'd send in a complaint! Even if you still need to use the cards you got in order to meet your timeline, I'd let them know the quality was not good. From my experience, their customer service is really awesome.

I'm surprised there is such a printing difference between tinyprints and shutterfly now that they are part of the same family. I know the pricing differs but I would think the customer service and printing practices would be the same.
I've always used shutterfly and haven't received my cards yet this year, but have been satisfied. I have had some issues in the past with prints and they were always replaced quickly at no additional charge.

I've received both Tiny Prints and Shutterfly cards so far this year (from other people). I think the colors on Shutterfly cards look more natural, but the paper is a bit thinner.

@birdofafeather: @ohapostrophe: @yin: @abmamma: I spoke with someone at Shutterfly yesterday. He was very nice and helpful. He reordered my cards while I was still talking to him. I got a new shipment email last night, so they should be here sometime next week!
@yin: I used the chat feature so that I could talk to someone right away. I had to told for about 10 minutes (think I was 45th in the queue), but it was worth it. He was very helpful & the cards are being reprinted!

I'm pretty sure they are owned by the same company. I haven't noticed any difference between Shutterfly and Tiny Prints, but have noticed a difference in photo paper cards vs. cardstock cards from either company.
