Nope we were in the dirt poor club. Neither of us have any huge inheritance so it wasn't a big deal.

I have nothing wrong with a prenup. One of my old bosses didn't sign a prenup, because he and his wife had no money when they got married. Now he is a billionaire and he regrets it big time. It's a sucky situation to be in. Money brings out the evil in many people.

We didn't sign one, and to be honest I didn't even know what one was until a few months ago.

DH has a fair amount of inheritance coming when his parents pass, which I didn't really know about until after we married. If he had explained this, and asked me to sign, I would not have had a problem signing. But he didn't, and as far as I know, his parents didn't make any noise about wanting him to have me sign one either.

We've got an 11 year age difference

Me and my DH came into our marriage with very, very, very, different amounts of assets (shares, cash, properties). We are Catholic and our marriage preparation was all about preparing for a life long commitment. We felt that planning for a divorce by way of a prenup was contrary to this, so we didn't even look into one.

I don't view this as similar to life insurance, which we both have. There is 100% certainty that you and your DH will die eventually and to not prepare for the eventuality is pretty reckless. Particularly if the surviving spouse will have to service a mortgage, care for children etc.

Also, to my understanding, prenups are not legally binding in the UK, so should we have signed one, I do not think it could have been enforced.
