One of LO's teeth came in with a yellow spot, and now it looks like another might have the same problem. I'm sort of freaking out. She's 11 mo, and we brush her teeth as best we can. It seems like they come directly out of the gum with the yellow. I didn't take any meds during pregnancy, and she hasn't had any kind of illness that would cause this. I'm calling a dentist this week, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Weird the only thing I can associate that with is certain antibiotics but you said you didn't take any meds! Hopefully the rest come in clear!

My lo did have a spot on a bottom tooth and it eventually went away on its own. I have no idea what caused it, or why it went away, but it's gone now. I would say it was there when the tooth came in at 5mo and was gone by the time he was 1.

@Mrs. Polish: really?!? Ok thank you so much. I'm waiting to hear back from the dentist, but I've been driving myself a little crazy wondering what's going on, if she's going to need a lot of work done, etc.

@Zbug: I never worried about it because I figure these teeth will fall out anyway. I would be concerned if his adult teeth come in that way. I'm sure she'll be fine.

I'm generally pretty laid back about things, but I keep worrying that she has a major enamel problem that will lead to lots of dental work. Most likely, I'm just being crazy. -

Yes!!!! Zumas first tooth popped out with the top a little bit yellow. We went to the dentist and it was missing enamel.

@anonysquire: @Mrs. Polish: same here! The dentist thinks she didn't get enough calcium when I was around 15 weeks pregnant, which caused decalcification. I took prenatals and am not vegan, so it was apparently just a fluke thing. She wasn't concerned though. I still feel a little bad though.

@Zbug: don't let your dentist indicate that it was any way your fault! As an adult, I brush twice daily and floss, and I have yellow spots on my teeth from missing enamel. My dad has the same issue with his teeth, and both of my brothers have the same issue. It's completely genetic and has nothing to do with how much calcium you had while you were pregnant!
