My boss asked me how my doctor's appointment went and I said fine, I'm just tired of being pregnant. She responded 'Oh, you just wait! Two more weeks and everything will be totally different!' I said I was excited, and she goes 'Dont be. I didn't say things would be better. They'll just be different. Kids ruin your life.'
Not sure how to respond to that.

So I'm guessing she had kids? I hope I never turn into the type of parent that says that to people! Even if a rough day or week makes me think it occasionally

What a lovely woman. That just makes me sad that someone would say that about having children. If there is one thing that is an absolute truth - having a child has made my life so much better. I can't imagine my life without our daughter. I feel complete now.

She needs to just shut her mouth. I mean yeah, life gets harder, not easier, when pregnancy ends. But also more meaningful, rewarding, and better, at least for some of us.

I've been told by a lot of people that my life will be miserable. I don't understand why people make such negative comments to expectant parents - even if it's true what's the point of being so downtrodden?

I feel for you, Grizz. I got tons of garbage like that too. It really upset me and frustrated me.
My LO is one month old today and he is the best thing that ever happened to me (okay, tied for first with marrying his father 2 years ago lol). He is really amazing, I can't even describe the love I have for him. I would never tell anyone kids ruin your life. Things are more complicated (timing around naps and feedings) but its beyond worth it and I can't wait for you to experience the same love for your LO. You're going to be a wonderful mother and its just going to be the best experience of your life.
